Here is all you need to know about domain traffic. We spent over $1M sending traffic to our great domain, only to have 5x the conversions from our free direct traffic. You’d have to pay $5M to Google for the same # conversions. So how much is the domain truly worth? @DomainKing

This past weekend at the Wasteland Jamboree I hosted a fundraiser for a local West Virginia non profit. I chose something important to me, Animal rescue. Animals have been a particular passion of mine since I was a young child and have had them my entire life. This past winter I found myself fostering a single cat who found her way to my doorstep and that 1 turned into 7 when she quickly gave birth to 6 kittens. Animal Friends NCWV is a no kill animal facility that is currently raising funds to expand and build a larger facility. They run their daily operations with the support of the community and their thrift store. I invited the Fallout community to participate in a fun art auction. Each participant was given the same 3d printed holotape to create art with. These were on display at the jamboree and auctioned off online. I also brought along with me my repurposed fallout theme vending machine and hosted daily raffles for Jamboree attendees who donated to the cause. With the overwhelming support of the Fallout community and locals who attended the event together we raised a whopping $5146.50! Thank you to everyone who contributed their time to create art, shared online, bid on or won auctions, and purchased raffle tickets at the event. Without all of you this would not have been possible. You have helped to rescue animals in need in West Virginia 💙 #fallout #falloutcommunity #animalrescue #wastelandjamboree

He’s here 💙 Welcome, baby Tate! My second grandson has arrived, and our hearts could not be fuller. Mom and Dad are so proud, Nash is already the sweetest big brother, and Gigi can’t wait to hold precious baby Tate. So much love for this beautiful little boy already. 💙

These last two weeks were a mess and here’s the part nobody knew. While all this auction nonsense was going on, I was fighting through a nasty flare up of diverticulitis the entire time. This crap didn’t help. Auction canceled. My trip to Houston canceled. Thanksgiving canceled. All because of the timing of this ridiculous situation. So when you saw me pushing back, staying sharp, laying out the facts, and fighting for fairness in the industry, just remember I wasn’t even at full strength. Not even close. But when you’re right, you’re right. And when you’ve spent 30 years calling out bullshit, you don’t get to tap out because you’re sick. You show up anyway. And if I can do all of this at 30 percent? Imagine what happens when I’m at 100. I went from the highest high during Legends Yacht Day… straight into the lowest of lows. I don’t need the stress. I don’t need the aggravation. I don’t need the fight. I don’t need the distractions. It’s time for you folks to pick up the slack. If you don’t care, why should I? If you don’t fight, why should I? If you don’t step up, why should I? I have to learn not to care. I have to learn not to share. I have to learn to step back and get out of this nonsense. I need to move on. I don’t have the energy to keep fighting for an industry that won’t fight for itself.

32 years ago today, in 1993, I registered my first domain name. By domain standards, it was not a great one, but he got me started on a long journey that led me here. I still have it today. Happy birthday ATLWIN.com! I’m really curious whether any other individual has ever personally held a domain name this long. How about it? Anyone?

Why do domains sell in the 8 figures? Thinking this morning about what separates the monster sales (7-8 figures) from the tiny sales (6- 5 figures), and I think it comes down to one thing. Status Not for every domain but there is a pattern. But... This not what you think. It is the status of the owner (and broker :). The owner has a status and the buyer does not want to break social norms, be rejected or out of the circle. The domain is important as well, but I think the hurdle is the social circle and status. This would fall into my self view (social proof) category. Remember my view on negotiations: World view Self view Road map I need to develop this out a bit... More to come.

Here’s that tweet: x.com/warrenroyal/st… But I apologize and I may have misunderstood. I presumed that you wanted to sell the domain. But if you truly want to sell bricks, then that’s a whole different thing, and is exactly what I did after I acquired Bobbleheads.com. It’s an absolutely great name and I’d be happy to offer ideas.

What are the most powerful levers in domain negotiations? Time, patience, and persistence. This is the case whether you’re buying or selling. This week I was able to finally acquire a domain which I have been chasing for 23 years. My first inquiry to purchase it was in 2002. It’s a geo .com of keen personal interest for me. And that doesn’t mean I overpaid- they finally accepted the exact same offer that I made in 2015. They declined it then and again until now. And earlier this year I sold a one-word premium .com which I hand registered in 1998. I’ve had many six figure offers over the 27 years following but declined them all. I was very passive with it- I didn’t even have a landing page for the domain- it was only forwarded to my domain AlleyCat.com , which only shows a picture of my cat. Finally, after 27 years, I got the offer I was looking for, out of the blue, and we did the deal. Win-win. It was someone who had inquired on the domain many years ago and I declined their original offers and then I didn’t hear from them again until now. The people who I respect the most in this industry are the pioneers who exhibit this kind of thinking. I learned so much from them and they know who they are. Don’t underestimate the value of time and patience with your domain investments. Time is a very powerful lever.

@Cozydomainer No, you should not be proud of buying and selling an obviously TM name. That’s the kind of activity that gives legitimate domainers a bad reputation.

@DInvesting In general, the portfolios being offered for sale are not the ones worth buying.

I've received a few emails asking me about portfolio acquisitions. In general, I am not interested in buying larger portfolios, and I don't know of anyone who is buying them unless the domain names are of exceptional quality.
