@chrismwojcik Pushed hard to get to 56 matches, brown belt at 39 years old. And I’m starting to lose the fun and desire to compete. Time to re-assess and get to having fun again.

One thing that helps me any time I get burned out of Jiu-Jitsu is to shift my focus. If I'm burned out because of competition, I focus on training. If I'm burned out of competition, I focus on teaching, community, or even just having fun. Jiu-Jitsu is supposed to be enjoyable. If it stops being that way, find new ways to bring that joy back. Also, taking breaks is not illegal 😂

@LesterCKim @JiujitsuOtter I, a 39 year old brown belt, who has been training and competing for about 8 years, got tapped by a neck crank from a 24 year old white belt with 8 years of wrestling experience and 20lbs on me. Hey whatcha gonna do?! It was a sick match though I almost subbed him like 5 times.

@JiujitsuOtter It’s misleading and idk why he’s doing that but belt colors are ultimately not that important. I’ve seen white belts with grappling experience give brown belts a tough time.

Unpopular opinion: There’s actually one really good reason to do this as a general practice
