Historical illiteracy dressed as wit. Lincoln was the first Republican president. His assassin, John Booth, was a Confederate sympathiser and Democrat partisan. This “gotcha” collapses before it begins. I’d suggest learning American history before attempting propaganda, Sean.

@JLeisenberg123 @CasuallyGreg It is weird then that almost all of the former confederate states vote republican now and almost all of the former union states vote Democrat now. It's almost like there was a realignment or something.

@CasuallyGreg The problem is that they do teach history in our schools, but now it's a false rewrite of history to suit an ultra liberal narrative and the kids come out believing nonsense.

Some of the replies to this make me incredibly concerned about the levels of anger against small and mid sized business owners who let’s face it employ over 60% of the uk work force. The lack of understanding around basic economics is woeful.
Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪@PeterMcCormack

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

@JHRoy2024 £15 per hour for a F/T worker equates to 31K per annum. So, for an example all McDonalds employess are on a minimum 31k and your Big Mac now costs £20 - you moan about the cost of living. Wages, across the board, have to increase and round and round we go.

If you can't afford to pay your workers enough to live, you don't deserve to stay in business. Don't know what's so hard to understand.

@Iloveourju9580 @HughGriffin2 Everyone I worked for who was a small business were the worst most demanding employers I had with very little place for advancement in the company. Any time anything comes along that makes things better for employees they are the ones who oppose it. Fuck small businesses.

@techbudsolution Ricky, Trump was a billionaire BEFORE politics & donated his $400k/yr salary. No shady book deals, from foreign speeches, or Hunter-style influence peddling. He took arrows for America First while DC insiders got rich. Results over rumors. Economy boomed, peace deals signed.

@victor2_10 @RBMEllis @wormsofbarlo Costco starts at $18. Target starts at $16. Most fast food starts at $12+...some start at $14+ now. Virtually nowhere pays anywhere close to the federal minimum wage at this point, so it's an irrelevant number.

@MonkeyFlorest35 @chandlerWa21294 @r1ndie Dude you are a retard. You’re right we don’t know if this will be a good movie. The same way you don’t know it will be a bad one. I’m a massive Cregger head going back to WKYK. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until it comes out.

@chandlerWa21294 @r1ndie First of all, that is a fallacy, a guy making good movies doesn't mean all his movies will be good. Second, he isn't competent, and you don't know if this movie will be well made. Third, this has nothing to do with having leon or not.

The sad part about this is how avoidable this is. Americans are desperately searching for a reasonable alternative to MAGA, and Democrats are having a civil war trying to decide whether they want to be that reasonable alternative, or sprint directly into left wing extremism
Swann Marcus@SwannMarcus89

Long term the Democrats are completely fucked. They keep moving left and 60% of American voters already think the Democrats are too liberal. The party is overwhelmingly hated and it will get worse The Democrats are only able to compete because Donald Trump is still alive

When you realize that performative online leftism is largely a response to being downwardly mobile, things start to make more sense. This person has no future and little earnings so she finds meaning in anti-western and anti-capitalist activism.
free palestine 🇵🇸@eclairification

the federal minimum wage is still 7.25. I am 34 and have never made more than 20k/yr, rarely more than 15. it’s really important that i, as a working person oppressed by capitalism, follow news and politics coverage written by people paid 6 figures to live in the culture city.

@WashedPolicy @CoreyWriting Being anti-western and anti-capitalist isn’t actually meaningful or substantive or productive towards any goal. It’s just blame-shifting for their own lack of ambition and work ethic.

1. The already have nukes. Russia since the 1949. Korea since the 1990s. So we can't stop people from getting nukes that already have them. 2. We were not in a position to stop Russia from getting a nuke without nuking them and starting WW3, which we were not going to do directly after WW2. N. Korea got nukes under Clinton who lacked the balls to do anything meaningful to stop them. 3. Neither Russia nor North Korea (not South) are run by insane religious fanatics in a death cult who think starting armageddon gets you a free ticket to paradise with 72 virgins. Maybe read a history book?
