A question we often hear: “Wouldn’t running the front-end of a WordPress site on the blockchain be slower than traditional hosting?” WASP pages open in ~200 ms on average, which is already a very solid performance for WordPress hosting. 🚀#WordPress

We’re spending most of our time stabilizing WASP right now. The platform is getting better every week. The next few weeks will be important as we prepare to open it to more users.

WordPress is often called “outdated,” yet ~10,000 new sites are still created each day in 2026, and it remains the foundation of a large share of the web. The real opportunity isn’t abandoning WordPress, it’s rethinking infrastructure, security, and long-term resilience.

We’ve been testing WASP with a few sites this week. Seeing a WordPress site stay online while a VPS dies… feels pretty surreal after months of work.😀 #wordpress #icp

Yes, we were able to move forward. The main challenge was that WordPress is too large to run fully inside a single canister today, and the current execution limits like the ~5B instruction limit per message and cycle constraints make a full WordPress stack impractical on-chain. So we changed direction and instead of putting all of WordPress on ICP, we run WordPress on VPS instances and use ICP canisters as a secure infrastructure layer through a WASP plugin. This gives us blockchain-based identity, distributed resilience, and data integrity without breaking WordPress compatibility, and when a canister detects that a VPS is down, it can automatically reroute traffic to another VPS so the site keeps running and no data is lost.

@WaspTechnology You actually got this working? I thought there was technical hurdles from ICP that you couldn't get over

5️⃣ Site is live on WASP The WordPress experience stays the same. The infrastructure is different. Lower downtime. Lower risk of data loss. Much stronger resilience.

I’m not against traditional hosting. It works. But when you add plugins, backups, monitoring, incident response… you’re easily over $1,000/year. And recovery still takes hours. We thought there had to be a better way...

When a e-Commerce store crashes, money leaks fast. Traditional hosting: 15–60 min downtime = thousands lost. WASP: Failover in <10 seconds to 2 min. Customers keep buying. Orders and forms are queued on-chain. Zero loss. Zero stress.💵

🔐Your WordPress backend runs on TEE servers. Your disaster recovery runs on the Internet Computer. Database and files sync to canisters in real time. Server dies? Automatic restoration from blockchain backups completes in minutes. No manual intervention. No data loss. No downtime excuses.

@web3__business That's the plan! This is phase 1, next, run Wordpress entirely on a canister.

@WaspTechnology That's smart to protect critical parts of Wordpress for now. Maybe WordPress can be rebuilt/reimagined to make it run fully on $ICP? Would be great

Wasp milestone unlocked 🚀 Wasp is now entering the testing phase with a validated WordPress × Internet Computer architecture. ICP has the capability to protect WordPress websites by isolating critical components on-chain — without breaking WordPress compatibility. Quick reminder for ICP fans: WordPress powers ~43% of the web. 👀 #icp

@BasedGiant_ Yes, we hit a genuine dead end and said so publicly. After reworking the architecture, we found a solution and development resumed.😀

When the WordPress backend fails, the ICP canister detects the outage within seconds and restores the entire site in under a minute. This resilience is enabled by a live backup system running at the canister level, allowing WordPress to recover automatically without manual intervention. As a result, WordPress becomes effectively unstoppable by design.
