The polar shift of Canadian politics between the feds and Ontario is real. Nearly 85% of the time since WW2 has had a different party in Ottawa than at Queen's Park. We're right on schedule for another, based on post-1980 trends, too.

The strongest indication anywhere that the Federal Liberals are on their way out of Ottawa and the Conservatives will win, is when the Ontario Liberals are in a serious fight to take back control of Queen's Park from the Tories. It's the polar shift of Canadian politics.

Representative democracy is working rather well, I'm afraid. They're giving us what we want. It's just that what we want is really, really stupid.
Ed Fine@Ed3463

@TristinHopper I used to rant on about our leaders. I am coming around to the view that the problem is Canadians. No ambition and no oversight.

You don’t have to believe me now, & who knows if you’ll even find this post in 2029…but remember I wrote it: Navdeep Bains is EXACTLY who Doug Ford’s office was, & is, hoping is the new Ontario Liberal Party leader. They preferred this to a 2nd Crombie run, or an initial Erskine-Smith attempt. “Charmed existence” doesn’t quite cover it. I bet I’m not the last person to remind you of this.

@ColinDMello Not sure that combatting Doug Ford’s corruption with a literal Rogers executive is the right strategy

The boycott will end when the economy and the dollar improve so that people can actually afford to visit the US again. Boomers are using our shitty economy as a bigot virtue signal This is also one of the best years for Americans booking visits to Canada, for the inverse reason.
Grandfather time. 🇨🇦@GrandpaKen05

First off, Mark Carney didn't ban booze, Premiers did. Mark Carney didn't ban anyone from visiting the US, the people just stopped going. The boycott won't end when Mark Carney or Pierre Poilievre says so. It will end when the people decide to end it.

Mark Carney is a my way type not used to media criticism and not particularly fond of any criticism from anyone. Being Prime Minister is difficult for Carney. Will he complete his term or just not run again?

@abacusdataca to believe our problems are only external is a failure of the media in canada.

The striking thing in our latest polling isn’t just that Liberal numbers are improving. It’s that Canadians increasingly seem to believe the biggest threats to their economic wellbeing are external — Trump, tariffs, global instability — not Ottawa. That changes political incentives in a big way. abacusdata.ca/canadian-polit…

@abacusdataca Boomers always blame everyone but themselves for the problems they created. This is yet another example of that same mentality.

@ThatDamnedGamer @VolkerJes53874 Notice how you ignore everything else about how terrible your hot take was because you can focus on Alice. Perhaps there is another show from that era that you would like to try and retcon to try and gaslight to pretend didn't exist instead? All in the Family, perhaps?

Boomer mentality now defines raising a family on a single auto worker income as "rich." These guys are insufferable.
Nick Felker 🗽@HandNF

@WatcherAfar I grew up in the 90s and rarely went to McDonald's. Food was always cheaper at home. I'm glad your family was rich but it wasn't that common for the rest of us.

@VolkerJes53874 @ThatDamnedGamer Half of all families owned that home on a single income during that time. "Poor" families with both parents working could still afford their own home instead of living in a tent on the street, too. This dude you're replying to is just a retard is all.

@ThatDamnedGamer @WatcherAfar Nobody said that. We were poor. Yet we still lived in a decent house and my mom stayed home. Was totally normal back then.

@ThatDamnedGamer @VolkerJes53874 Half of all families had a stay-at-home parent with the other being the sole source of income living in a home they owned when the Brady Bunch was on TV. These stats are easy to find. You don't get to gaslight people by retconning history just because your hot take sucked.

In reality, it more likely Dunkin Donuts coming in and telling everyone they would hire Canadians that forced Tim Hortons into this, rather than anything to do with Carney. But Evan lives in the land of Liberal Logic.

Manufacture the problem, call everyone who points out the problem a racist, continue to ignore it while everything falls apart in front of your eyes, and then dial it back so that you can claim you fixed the problem. That right there is "Liberal Logic" Scrimshaw Style, folks.

The mood inside Canada and the mood about the world are moving in opposite directions. 🇨🇦 47% say Canada is headed in the right direction 🌎 76% say the world is on the wrong track 🇺🇸 80% say the U.S. is on the wrong track That gap has widened sharply since Trump returned and Carney became PM. @mlxYYZ @cadwaveanalysis Nah. Carney's position will not improve over the next year. He would have already done that if there wasn't something in the internals that spooked them. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he bails on this gig at some point like he has everything else when things got tough.
