BREAKING: @EPA is threatening to roll back protections for coal ash, one of the nation’s most toxic wastes, putting water and communities at risk. Coal ash contains arsenic, lead, and mercury. 91% of U.S. coal plants already pollute water above federal safety limits. Weaker safeguards mean more pollution and slower cleanup. Waterkeeper Alliance is reviewing the proposal with local Waterkeeper groups and will submit formal comments opposing it. If EPA fails to protect our water, we’ll see them in court.
