Decline of an Empire: With 25 percent of the 21st Century over, will America retain its character and strength or will we spiral into oblivion in the coming decades as other empires have done throughout history? We still have time but the American people must wake up even more and take back their communities across the nation. Why I shout from the rooftops about local action (national impact). Historical patterns of empire decline such as the Romans, the British, the Ottomans, etc., all declined because of: 1. Overextension and costly wars. 2. Economic strain such as massive debt, out of control inflation, loss of manufacturing and productivity capabilities. 3. Internal divisions formed inside the government, between existing parties, and between the government and the people the government was suppose to serve. Additionally, severe issues existed such as deep levels of corruption, polarization, and loss of social cohesion. 4. Demographic and cultural shifts and failure to adapt to rivals (read China). 5. Relative power erosion as competitors rose (read China). These processes were often gradual and not necessarily rapid. America still has a fighting chance because of our unique traits, many still thriving, and are strong in certain segments of our society. For instance, our constitution still exists as a strong, living, and breathing document. The majority of Americans know something is deeply wrong and as Americans we do not cower, we stand, we fight for our faith, our families, our communities, and our freedom. We only need to be pushed so far to awaken as a nation. That point is close by. American exceptionalism, a seminal patriotic cause, still resonates globally as our flag waves proudly as an irreplaceable idea. I have always been of the thought where, if you're going to point out a problem, you should offer a potential way to address the problem/provide a solution. I have always seen it like this: If you have the energy to complain about something or identify a problem, but you don't have ANY potential fixes for the problem, then you don't actually want to solve the problem and you probably don't even care that the problem exists. You just want to complain. If you're bummed about what's going on with the America 250 celebration, that's fine. But if all you're offering is "don't do this, don't do that, don't just do a rally, don't don't don't don't" without actually providing any solutions or potential alternatives, you're just a complainer. You don't want to fix the problem, you just want to complain about the problem. Whether it was running sales teams, organizing grassroots political events, or working in a damn paint store, I always asked my teammates and colleagues to simply be solution-oriented in the face of adversity. I guess these days, that is asking too much. And that's sad.
