Swung by @Walmart Supercenter 4484, to check the progress on what should be their 1st EV charging site in the Triangle, a couple of minutes off I-540 in north Raleigh. Four @alpitronic HYC 400 Hyperchargers with a spot for a 5th. Transformer not on site yet. Read ALT image tags.

The media is running a story today about how a Cybertruck “allegedly” crashed on a Texas highway. Spoiler alert, the crash happened while the human driver was in control. The law firm, which is seeking $1 million, says that last summer Justine Saint Amour was driving her Cybertruck with Autopilot engaged. There’s just one problem — Autopilot is a legacy lane keeping system that never shipped on Cybertruck. The driver then admits that before the crash they disengaged the system and started driving manually. Indeed, the video shows the truck starting to turn before the driver disengaged and drove into the wall. Tesla hasn’t officially responded to the lawsuit yet, but available telemetry indicates the driver probably wasn’t paying attention, got startled, and crashed. There doesn’t seem to be any attempt to steer back towards the on-ramp in the video, rather you see the trajectory change from turning with the ramp to driving straight into it. When you crash your car, people tend to put blame on anyone but themselves. A high profile company like Tesla, with a CEO who is the wealthiest man on Earth? Yeah, they kinds of BS lawsuits happen often. Let’s wait for more data and discovery to take place, but based on the evidence i’m seeing so far that doesn’t look like something FSD — even an older V13 — would do.

Halfway registered for the Drive Electric Earth Month event on April 18 in Shallotte, NC. A "traditional" car show added an EV category this year. A new Supercharger is coming soon to Wilmington, North Carolina. Permits were filed last month for a 12-stall station at the Target on New Centre Dr. The site is located a mile away from the intersection of US-74 and US-117.

Permitting was issued on Tuesday so the planned Supercharger site at @scnbnc in Newton Grove, NC should soon reappear on Tesla's Find US map. Once it does the site's specific URL will work again. Less than a mile from I-40 exit 341. Location currently has 2 Destination Chargers.

So now there's a @TeslaCharging site "In Development" at the Target about half a mile from the upcoming Walmart EV charging location in north Raleigh off Town Drive I checked on the 28th. x.com/WatermelonJB/s…

@itskyleconner The trailer friendly Supercharger post in Halifax, NC. I’ve seen the same at Wawa’s Travel Center in Hope Mills, NC off I-95 exit 41. 3 of 4 occupied & the 20 posts on the east side of the Wawa are actually closer to the entrance.🤦🏻‍♂️ Pic taken about a month after they opened.

@djfrerichs @Out_of_Spec @Leviton Yes, all the exterior outlets are on a 20 amp circuit, and each is wired for it. I should’ve clarified that with a followup post.

@WatermelonJB @Out_of_Spec @Leviton Is that a 20 amp circuit you put it on? You cannot install a 20-amp (T-slot) outlet on a 15-amp circuit. Doing so violates electrical code (NEC) and creates a safety hazard, as it allows a 20-amp appliance to overload the 15-amp wiring, potentially causing overheating or fire.

Today’s “restaurant row” winner of the Beans & Bumpers Chili Cook-Off, Duke’s Kitchen & Taphouse, opening this month at 132 S Fuquay Ave in Fuquay-Varina, NC. They had an entry in the car show too. Pretty sure the Model S is lingering in the background of several awards photos.

Thankfully it’s mostly sunny, so the car looks green to everyone not wearing sunglasses, until a cloud passes over. Passed the @ionnaofficial Garner Rechargery on the way here, may swing by on the return trip & see if they have any Andy Capp’s Hot Fries. Couple of past pics.

At the Beans & Bumpers Chili Cook-Off & Car Show. Fielded some EV questions & suggested a few check out the @ionnaofficial Garner Rechargery that’s about 14 miles away. No one’s commented on the V8 can under the hood yet. Great spot but right beside DJ, so a bit loud.

@Teslarati It’d have been nice if the 1,000th Supercharger post in North Carolina had been wrapped back when Wawa’s first Travel Center opened.

Someone mistook it for a Jaguar from a distance, but that cleared up when they got close enough to realize it was missing an engine. Just a “small block” V8, under the hood.🤣

@mrfundman Typically groceries. For car shows an info sheet to cut down on folks asking if my 2012 single motor RWD is a Plaid, and a small V8 can to blend in with all the ICE on display & to show EV owners have a sense of humor. Once or twice my daughter. A few times a car show trophy.🤷🏻‍♂️

OPEN?? Walmart EV Charging has some locations that look to be open now. Supercenter 4108 in Springdale, AR is shown as "coming soon" now, but you can start a charge! I'll check it out tomorrow. But, Supercenter 1101 in Wetumpka, AL appears to be online thanks to a PlugShare user
