Happy to share that my latest novelette got published on The Write Launch earlier today. thewritelaunch.com/2026/04/risk-m… Had a lot of fun writing this one while keeping track of market news, haha. Feel free to give it a read in your spare time and share your thoughts on it.

@gothicthegame Genuinely curious to see how (well) Gothic 3 will run on SW2 and other consoles. Original release was a memory hog back in the day (more so than Oblivion, which was already a beast of an open world). Even then, technical hiccups abounded.

@DavidColetto @EddieShepp This list's revealing: - "Steady leadership" can equate to "maintaining economic status quo" - "Reassuring" can mean "not making short-term pain, long-term gain decisions" - Simple solutions to complex problems don't cut it - Partisanship can be prevented via economic reform

For the past year, @EddieShepp and I have been digging deep into a mindset shift we’ve seen in Canada that has had huge implications for consumer behaviour, politics, and the workplace. We’ve brought together all our research and spent some time working through what it means for leaders and communicators. The end product is this highly interactive website that we think every leader should bookmark. It will evolve over time as our research signals new insights and cues but we hope it serves as a valuable tool to better understand your audiences today. If you find it valuable, please share and let us know if you’d like to learn more. We are planning a webinar soon to introduce the concept and its impact. Visit it here: precaritymindset.com

@JohnBouras3230 @JJ_McCullough "If Canadian talent creates value, Canada has every right to ask how more of that value can be built, owned, and scaled in Canada." Then Canada should make itself more attractive for folks to invest their money/time. Right now, stuff like taxation and red tape stand in the way.

Wanting Canada to keep more of its talent is not ‘East Germany.’ That’s a ridiculous straw man. No one is proposing walls, exit bans, or coercion. Countries compete for talent all the time through better pay, lower taxes, stronger research funding, housing affordability, and industrial policy. That’s called governance, not authoritarianism. Yes, Canada and the U.S. are integrated, but integration does not mean Canada should be comfortable acting as a feeder system for U.S. firms. If Canadian talent creates value, Canada has every right to ask how more of that value can be built, owned, and scaled in Canada.

@DavidColetto Counterargument: Being rational, in this case, means overcoming risk aversion to tackle bottlenecks in Canada's economy and make it sustainable and dynamic in the long run. Yielding to risk aversion when the situation calls for reforms invites further decline and social discord.

“The restless - the young, the precarious, the locked-out - wanted disruption because they felt disruption was the only plausible path to the stability they’d never had. The settled - the propertied, the pensioned, the institutionally embedded - wanted protection because protection was the only path to keeping the stability they’d spent a lifetime building. Both groups were rational. Both groups were afraid. The difference was that one group was afraid of the status quo, and the other was afraid of losing it.”

@DenySully This is why it isn’t hyperbolic to say that Canada’s fiscal engine bears structural deficits that need to be tackled ASAP. Trouble is, the most that MPs will do is tweak the margins instead of overcoming risk aversion and confronting beneficiaries of the current economic system.

youtube.com/watch?v=eWBEWd… Came across this vid detailing Winnipeg's resistance to change. TLDR Good ol' fear of the unknown exaggerating the cons. It's a habit that I've noticed in HRM, NS, and Canada as a whole. Sooner the economic/regulatory landscape's modernized, the better.

Right now, one villain has so completely colonized the Canadian political imagination that every other political storyteller is struggling to get their antagonist on stage. Writing on threat perception and this really fascinating data. Stay tuned, it'll be out next week.

@Stealth40k I reckon some people will use news like this to assert that third-party offerings on Nintendo hardware must remain treated with suspicion and that first-party titles will always be the only logical choice. This kind of in-group, out-group thinking really has to die off this gen.

Truth be told, its confluence of charm and inventiveness reminds me of the *highly* under-appreciated N64 puzzle-platformer Space Station Silicon Valley, which channels Aardman vibes with a possession mechanic that predates Super Mario Odyssey by two decades.

Rolled credits on Captain Toad. Hands down one of the best puzzle-platformers I’ve ever played. Gameplay and presentation were on point, and its use of the Gamepad (while limited) made the experience feel less passive than your average platformer.

@RobynUrback It’s true that becoming part of the government can mean having a more palpable say in how national policies are shaped and implemented. It’s also true that, if things go south fiscally, the gov’t will be left holding the bag. Recent economic readings suggest growing pains ahead.

Liberals will say they are one big, broad tent. But tents have stakes in the ground that don’t move. What the Liberal Party actually is, in fact, is a bedsheet, tenuously tied to a flagpole, flapping in whichever direction the wind happens to be blowing theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
