Uh, I guess this will serve as an introductory tweet. I'm gonna talk about whatever topics are of interest to me. . . that's everything from Star Trek to what trial and error lead to specific types of food. Like, how did we get from wheat as a plant to bread? Once we get to bread, I totally understand different kinds of bread, crackers, cakes, etc. . . but what about pasta with holes in it? I'll chime in on whatever, as long as I find something worthy of me replying to. . . even if it's just to be a snarky asshole. . . Don't judge, you know you do the same thing. But. . .out of all of my pet peeves about discourse on social media, my biggest issue is people who purposely misinterpret or pretend to not understand when pressed because they're wrong. There's a difference between trolling and being caught in a lie that you were trying to get away with because of whatever your agenda happens to be. It's pretty easy to tell the difference, don't fool yourself into believing your own bullshit. Just be honest about your reasoning for your opinions. Why lie about it if you think there's nothing wrong with it? Right now a lot of my discussions are about the future of AI and how it's going to affect the workforce. I'll make a separate post about my current thoughts on that though. . . at the end of the day, my goal is just to cut through the noise and accept that multiple things can be true about multiple things at the same time. We don't have to share opinions, but facts are facts and context is king.

Totally get it. If I didn't work in tech, I don't think I'd see a reason to use it for anything. They're still awful at deducting the intent behind search prompts. . . The machine learning AI tools that were used to develop the machine movements in Arc Raiders is some really cool stuff, but as discussed earlier, that's a specific tool for a specific task.

@WayFarBeyonder @Rahll I used LLMs as a "next-gen search engine" for a while, and sometimes played with generating images casually, for jokes with friends. However (not to repeat myself), now I've sworn off of using any AI services on the principle of no longer supporting all those harms.

One thing that really bugs me is people who go, "AI is here, I don't like it either, but we have to adapt," and then they gleefully post AI stuff. Yeah, you sound really cut up and conflicted about it.

I do play with the GenAI stuff because I work in entertainment and even if it's not part of my workflow, I feel it's important for me to have firsthand experience with how it works, so if I'm ever asked for an opinion, I can give an informed breakdown and explain what is/isn't possible and why traditional methods would be better beyond just, "because it's real, not AI" . . . that would just push them to go ask someone else who might push them into using AI for a task it's ill-suited to. Most of my use right now has been coding scripts and. . . for lack of a better term, micro-apps, that automate assorted tedious data tasks, but if I didn't already have a base level knowledge of programming and scripting, I don't know the stuff I've "made" would have actually worked.

@WayFarBeyonder @Rahll I agree it's a bad argument, but it's all the AI bros, AI experts, and "AI artists" repeat all the time on this platform. It's really obnoxious! Your use case is reasonable to me, if only the technology can be scaled down to seriously reduce or almost completely end its harms.

I don't think it's about FOMO, personally. That's a bad argument in favor of AI. I'm just. . . I've been working in tech support and adjacent tech jobs for the past 20 years. People are painfully ignorant of just basic tech skills. For me, it's not about FOMO or whatever. It's about wanting people to be able to participate in the job market, in whatever form it takes, after the transition we're currently going through, settles down.

I think the simplest and most logical solution going forward for technologies and R&D with the misnomer of "AI", is to rename themselves. 🤷‍♂️ The common definition of Artificial Intelligence is now associated with objectively harmful, disruptive, and damaging AI models, technology, and infrastructure. That's definitely inevitable. It's here now. I still haven't heard a convincing argument why it's "inevitable" for hobbyists & lovers of their craft to have FOMO, probably because there isn't one.

Nah, it's both sides. The loudest voices just drown out the reasonable people. I always get shouted down by MAGA folks when I say that I'd be perfectly fine with requiring a government issued ID for voting IF it was both provided for free and treated like the Census where we send people out to make sure everyone is counted. We have the resources to make a lot of our processes significantly easier, but a lot of Americans now have a weird obsession with being hyper-individualistic instead of working towards the advancement of our society as a whole.

@WayFarBeyonder @ShcChy @micah_erfan That’s the problem tho. We do have the technology and ability to make election secure and easier for everyone. Democrats will never allow it to happen.

@NotTravisAgain @ShcChy @micah_erfan Right? Like, I'm not by any means against voter ID in general, I just think that in 2026, we have advanced enough that we can figure out a way to make voting easier, faster, and still secure, while making it easy for people to do it.

@micah_erfan Why isn’t a person automatically removed from voter registration, Social Security, and any social welfare programs by the state when a death certificate is issued? Wouldn’t that make sense?

. . . I'm justified in judging interviews from outlets, that have a legit budget to pay their editors, for not only using the generic lower third graphics that Adobe includes with premiere, but also for not changing it at all from the default settings?

In my experience that part of the "pro" crowd on social media are just Gen AI slop engagement farming accounts, not legit people IMO. I think I'm fairly savvy at culling the engagement baiters out of both groups. . .so, I'm referring to people who, seem to me at least, like real people. There's a lot of people who don't do the research to have proper conversation on either side, but having a conversation about Data Centers which serve all forms of AI, gets reduced down to anti-GenAI arguments. . . rather than discussing something like how closed loop cooling should have been the standard from the beginning. . . I dunno, maybe it's just social media in general.

@WayFarBeyonder @Wolfe2x7 @Rahll In my experience, it's the pro crowd who lump all AIs together, usually to muddy the convo. Those who are anti genAI know very well which "AI" they are against

I'm watching George Carlin: Back in Town. This was filmed in 1996 and it's absolutely insane that the shit he's discussing is still the same fucking shit we're dealing with today. The same fucking shit. This was 30 years ago. I think I'm having an existential crisis. youtube.com/playlist?list=…

I think overall, the issue is that the loudest voices don't leave any space for nuance on social media. For the "Pro" crowd, if you criticize AI even slightly, that means you're Anti-AI. Conversely, on the "anti" side, all sectors of AI end up getting lumped in with GenAI and people immediately jump into GenAI arguments that don't apply, just because they hear "AI" and either aren't aware or refuse to research that there's AI other than GenAI. I do think it's "inevitable" though, just not, you know, tomorrow. We're going to be in a shitload of trouble if it's not prepared for though.5, 10, 20 years from now is going to come sooner than people realize. . . even 50 years from now. But Americans don't like thinking past the next presidential election.

Also, it was literally an attempt to kill him. She failed because he was already dead. I would assume that if I tried to rob a bank, but I ran in just as the previous bank robbers left, but before the police arrive, make an effort to rob the bank, but fail because of the fact the bank was literally just robbed, I could still be charged with attempted robbery?

@UsmanAbidemiEsq B. Attempted murder. Under US law she had the specific intent to kill and took a substantial step (shooting him 6 times lmao) so she's guilty of attempt even though he was already dead, factual impossibility is not a defense. See people v. dlugash (NY 1977)

Why don't you want people to have options? Do you think it's possible that there may be a portion of people on SNAP that for any number of reasons, like being homeless maybe, or otherwise not having access to a kitchen, or whatever, there are many numerous reasons. . . Do you really want them wasting energy (time, money, man hours) on evaluating each individual person's needs, case by case, rather than just letting people buy precooked food?

@shebringsjoy Yall really hate cooking your own food don’t you. Just get a whole chicken the store bought “rotisserie chickens” are literally smaller and the ingredients don’t add up. Lol like damn. I’m not against it but this is is a stupid argument.

I’m not on SNAP, but I will tell you: This is an ignorant take. I don’t buy rotisserie chickens, but I do know they’re less expansive than a whole chicken. I also know that time is money, and most families on SNAP are probably working families. Cheap ready made food, that’s real food, gives poor parents time to help children with homework, or to play with them, or get caught up on housekeeping, etc. We have to find a balance between making people accountable and encouraging healthy relationships, and I think this area is one where we can definitely allow a little wiggle room.
Nuke@GamingWithNuke

@SarahHuckabee Why would you allow people to spend SNAP benefit on hot food items?! They can go buy a chicken and cook it them selves in under 2 hours, it’s healthier, and doesnt have anything added. What’s next? Allowing people to buy fast food with SNAP?

Legit question. Now that we all see how self defeating and dumb gerrymandering is, how about we pass a nationwide ban on it to take effect in the 2030 census?
