Friday of the Seventh Week of Easter Daily readings- Acts 25: 13b-21; John 21: 15-19; My personal reflections 1st reading- Following the Will of the Lord. Paul rejects going to Jerusalem because he knows they would likely kill him. Instead, as a Roman citizen, he elects to be able to go before the emperor and continue to spread the gospel in Rome, obeying the Will of the Lord. How often do I struggle to obey the Lord's Will? Lord, guide me. Gospel- The Reconciliation of St. Peter. Here we see Peter being asked three times if he loves Jesus. This is direct reconciliation of Peter's three denials of Jesus just before his crucifixion. It is this specifically that separates Peter from Judas. Judas gave into despair, and believing he was beyond salvation, took his own life sending himself to hell for eternity. Peter, however, did feel enormous shame, but didn't give into despair. Jesus here showed how powerful His Grace can be for all of us. Please remember, you're never lost to Him. You just need to go to Him. I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Thursday of the Seventh Week of Easter Daily readings - Acts 22: 30, 23: 6-11; John 17: 20-26 My personal reflections 1st reading- Take Courage. Paul faces down those who would stone and kill him for proclaiming the Word of the Lord. Would I be this bold? I pray for the strength to stand firm in proclaiming the Good News. Do you struggle with standing tall in the face of opposition? Gospel-God is Love. I'm stuck by this passage at just how much love is proclaimed in it by Jesus. The love of the Father for the Son, the Son for the Father, the Son for us, us for the Son and the Father, and on. It is our duty to strive, though we can never quite accomplish this, to love the way Jesus loves. Nonetheless, we are called to work toward that level of love everyday. Do you struggle to love when hate is easier? I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

@philthatremains @philthatremains that's because you're never libertarian enough for the libertarians! Speaking as a former libertarian, I got tired of the three-ring circus of insurance from the "Libertarian Party". They went full-clown show.

Wednesday of the Seventh Week of Easter Daily readings- Acts 20: 28-38; John 17: 11-19; My personal reflections 1st reading- Humility and Poverty. Paul here is telling this gathered how he has been following the commands of Jesus for humility and poverty. How often do I struggle with this? Sinful pride is always there, whispering into my ear. It is a daily flight to keep it at bay. Also, covetousness is also right there, encouraging me to want more things, nicer things, and accumulate more wealth for myself. Lord, strengthen me against sin. Do you struggle with humility and poverty? Gospel- Jesus prays for us, that we may continue to sanctify God and be protected against Satan. I need Jesus' prayer every day, every minute, to stay close to Him and to spread the Good News to those who he puts in front of me. Lord, guide me. How does it feel to you, knowing that Jesus prays to the Father about you? I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

You mean the Bible that the early fathers of the Catholic Church canonized after they discerned with the Holy Spirit and through many early Church councils? You know, the Bible that didn't exist before 393 AD in any overwhelmingly agreed-to way? That Bible? The one that contains the New Testament books the apostles literally wrote from roughly 33AD to around 100AD where they literally talk about the authority of Peter specifically and the authority of the Church as the visible body of Christ on Earth with its leaders guided by the Holy Spirit? That Bible? Just making sure we're talking about the same Bible.

All these people “Bishop” points to do not hold to Sola Scriptura. Then all turn to dreams, vision, experience, and progressive revelation (doctrinal development). You know who else does this? Roman Catholics. They are in Bishops camp of placing men (and women) of Scripture.

Reading something is not the same as understanding it. You are not the person Bishop Fulton Sheen was talking about. You are the false shepherd, the person trying to create more of the people who wrongly believe things the Catholic Church doesn't actually teach. I will pray for you.

Imagine reading the Roman Catholic catechism and catholic devotionals only to have Catholics claim you’re lying about Catholicism when you’re actually reading their material. That is the state of Catholic apologetics today. They are completely ignorant.

Tuesday of the Seventh Week of Easter Daily readings- Acts 20: 17-27; John 17: 1-11a My personal reflections 1st reading-Paul says goodbye. Paul is a great example to follow. Paul knows he is going to his death, and yet because he has the Lord with him, he does not shy away or resist. I work hard to have this same level of trust and devotion to the Lord, but I struggle and need to be set straight again and again. Lord, guide me. Gospel- Jesus prays for us. I pray that I am following Him well. I pray for the Holy Spirit to instruct my movements, words, and actions. I pray that my guardian Angel will help me to hear the will of God so that I can give my "yes" to what he wants. I pray to Jesus to never let me stray too far from his light and to retrieve me when I do. I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

Monday of the Seventh Week of Easter (a late entry) Daily readings- Acts 19: 1-8; John 16: 29-33 My personal reflections 1st reading- The Gift of the Holy Spirit. In this reading, Paul lays hands and gives the gift of the Holy Spirit. During my confirmation, I was given the same gift. My life has never been the same since! Do you remember your confirmation? Gospel- The Hard Journey of Life. The apostles now understand that Jesus is God, and he tells them that the road ahead will be hard, but not to without, because Jesus has already won the war against evil. I sometimes forget that He warned us that the road ahead would be hard and need to be reminded that He has everything under control. Do you struggle to "give it to God"? I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

Seventh Sunday of Easter Daily readings- Acts 1: 12-14; 1 Peter 4: 13-16; John 17: 1-11a; My personal reflections (I did the Ascension readings this previous Thursday, though many churches will do them today.) 1st reading- Waiting in prayer. Just like the Apostles, how often do we find ourselves waiting for decisions or responses that are out of our control? Without faith, it is much like living in a kind of hell. With faith, we turn to prayer and conversation with our Lord, and trust that no matter the answer, He will bring a greater good out of this that we could ever possibly imagine. How does prayer help you when you're waiting? 2nd reading- give your suffering to Him. We are called to suffer in this life and follow Christ's example. To never give up Hope and succumb to despair, for we know that He is with us. When have you suffered like Christ? Gospel- Give glory to Him, that we might be glorified. This is the example Jesus gives us, go glorify the Father so that His glory might be put on us when our time comes. We must "decrease" ourselves so that He may "increase" in us so that others only see the Lord and no longer see us. How do you give the glory to God? I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

Saturday of the Sixth Week of Easter Daily readings- Acts 18: 23-28; John 16: 23b-28; My personal reflections 1st reading- Enthusiasm of a Convert. Like Apollos, I am a convert. This reading reminds me of my story in a way. Specifically, how converts have a massive enthusiasm for the Faith and want to share it with others. This is a good thing, provided we are well catechized. Above all, be an authentic witness to others for the Lord. What's your story? Gospel- The promise of the return. Jesus leaves the disciples but promises his return. We live our lives never knowing when that day will come to pass. We do know that either through our physical death or the end of the age, we will meet him for our judgement. This means that the decisions we make in this life DO indeed matter because we have free will. This is what "Memento Mori" is all about. What do you struggle with? I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

Friday of the Sixth Week of Easter Daily readings- Acts 18: 9-18; John 16: 20-23 My personal reflections 1st reading- Jesus honors his Word. Paul was promised that if he kept preaching, he would be safe. And he was. Paul trusted the Word of the Lord. Do I trust the Word of the Lord like Paul did? In reality I try my best, but I still fail at times. Lord, I believe, help my unbelief. Do you struggle to trust in Him? Gospel- In the end, we win. Jesus here reminds us that while we suffer here, that in the end when He returns, we will rejoice and have the ultimate joy. He implores us to trust in Him and keep the faith. Do you struggle with keeping the faith when times get tough? I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

The Ascension of the Lord Daily readings- Acts 1: 1-11; Ephesians 1: 17-23; Matthew 28: 16-20 1st reading- The Promise of His Return. Jesus ascends to take His place at the right hand of the Father and two white-robed men (angels?) tell them how He will return. I read this and it gives me Hope that He will come again in glory and that He will never abandon us. How does this passage make you feel? 2nd reading- The Holy Spirit. I read this and fall in love again with the Holy Spirit. I can see in my own life how the Holy Spirit has guided and shaped me because I choose daily to die to myself so that He may live within me. How has the Holy Spirit affected your life? Gospel- Spread the Good News. Jesus' command here is simple. Preach and baptize those who gladly receive the Gospel. This is no different for us today. Come, Holy Spirit. Fill the heart of your faithful. How have you been able to spread the Good News? I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD
