@TrigramSage @RodneyMarshall1 From Wikipedia- Routledge never married and had no children. In a 2001 interview, she said: "I didn't make a decision not to be married and not to be a mother. Life just turned out like that because my involvement in acting was so total."

Patricia Routledge in London, mid-60s. Long before her TV roles as Hyacinth Bucket, Hetty Wainthropp and her Alan Bennett monologues, she was dazzling audiences & critics with her performances in the West End and on Broadway. She could invest comic roles with emotive depth. RIP.

@Luiz_Fernando_J @AppleFilms Thanks for your reply. With the red carpet premiere happening in Leicester Sq I thought that maybe someone from the film or from F1 might also make a surprise appearance at BFI. But from your great review it sounds like the film gave everyone a great time anyway.

@WaySpen @AppleFilms Unfortunately no introduction yesterday. I imagined that would be the case when the trailers started, as they never play trailers and start on the dot when they got introductions happening.

Just watched #F1TheMovie and all puns intended, WHAT A RIDE! #JosephKosinski overcame himself and delivered a technically exhilarating old school triumph of filmmaking, while #BradPitt shows in #F1 what a lead with true movie-star aura is made off in the best racing film I’ve ever witnessed. I love #FordvFerrari but what was achieved technically and visually in #F1 is unparalleled when it comes to racing films. I felt like I was on the cockpit the whole time, and I don’t remember the last time I gasped and involuntarily reacted as much as I did during this film. #F1 is a full on spectacle, in which every single penny spent is on screen for our delight and entertainment. Again, the kind of movie we had a lot in the 80s, but with the technology and budget they only could afford today when those movies are rarely made anymore. Cliches? Yeah, there are many in the script. I know, you saw the old dog returning to inspire a reckless, unfocused summer child brat several times in the 80s and 90s… But you know why Cliches become cliches? Because they work!!! Sometimes you don’t need to reinvent the wheel, sometimes all you gotta do is spin it! And that’s what I like about Kosinski, he knows when to be inventive and when to keep it simple. Kudos to the casting director and to the script that really gives us reason to care about those characters and what happens to them. And they work as a team also for us viewers. All of them look incredible and also great together. If #BradPitt wanted a #TopGunMaverick of his own, he just got it. His character #SonyHayes’ arc is incredibly similar to #TomCruise’s counterpart. But #BradPitt has an aura - and yeah, that killer swaggering smile - with which not even #TomCruise can compete with. And all of the time #KerryCondon is in a scene with mr. Pitt, the chemistry is just insanely off the charts. Also, off topic but Kerry looks incredibly alike #RebeccaFerguson, who was Cruise’s co-star in some of the #MissionImpossible films. Lots off old school banter and funny scenes between Pitt and #DamsonIdris, who is great in his role, to make us laugh when you are not in the edge of your seat as well. But let’s not fool ourselves, the races are what we are here for and they soar!!! There are two moments in special that our audience went so silent in tension for what happens on screen - also silently, a rarity in a movie where the engines set the loud and larger than life tone from the very first scene - you would be able to hear a needle drop. That’s how locked-in all of us were. I had quit watching #FormulaOne a long time ago,.. But F1 makes an excellent case on why l should have never stopped and should go back. It felt like playing Gran turismo as a teenager.. And needless to say, this is a true cinematic experience, as premium as it gets. All the resources were used to guarantee that. So make yourself a favor and watch this beauty at least once in the best IMAX or Dolby you can get - although I’m sure it won’t be a single time for you. It surely won’t be for me! #F1 debuts this FRI, JUN 27, with previews starting from WED depending on which country you are!

@jamieswb @JadBaron @BFI Thank you for confirming that 👍 I thought that was the case because I hadn’t seen photos or videos of her at the 2nd screening. Not surprising because it would have meant a wait of almost 3 hours inbetween the intro at the first screening and the start of the second screening.

The Filmumentaries™ Podcast - Jamie Benning
Had a great day yesterday at @BFI. Firstly, I was part of an expert panel called the "Star Wars Influence". Then I got to see an original dye transfer print of Star wars on 35mm (pre a New Hope). Then got to rub shoulders with people across the film industry at the after party.

@JadBaron @jamieswb @BFI It was amazing to see that print. I was at the first screening where Kathleen Kennedy was part of the introduction. Can I ask, what happened at the second screening with regard to the introduction. Did Kathleen introduce that as well?

@BFI @ParamountPics @ParamountUK Really enjoyed the Tom Cruise In Conversation event at BFI Southbank in London. Great to see Tom in person. Very interesting talk and can’t wait for the new MI film. The talk will be on the BFI YouTube channel later this month.

@Nirosta @BFI @ParamountPics @ParamountUK Yes it will be. I was at the talk. Ben Roberts, the CEO of the BFI, did a short intro speech before Tom took to the stage, and he said that it would be on the BFI YouTube channel soon.

Despite audiences questions, I loved the Q&A because both Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin were so fun, made it all worth it. Jesse has a word count of 26 espresso in any given sentence - a joy to listen too 😊

Highly recommend #ARealPain - with a sharp 90 min it feels absolutely relentless. Both Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin are beyond amazing, but my god, Culkin sure found flow state in portraying his character, so alive. That final scene 🥹
