💔NOBODY WANTS TIMMY - Still No interest & No applications💔 We don’t understand it, truly, we don’t. Timmy has been overlooked time & time again, it’s breaking our hearts. He watches others leave, wondering when it will finally be his turn & it just isn’t happening 🔁We need your help. PLEASE share Timmy far & wide. The more people who see him, the better his chance of finally being chosen. Right now, it feels like no one wants him & we refuse to believe that’s true🔁 Meet Timmy, a beautiful, laid-back 8 year old gentle Lurcher with the most soulful eyes & the calmest nature 🐶Timmy enjoys the quieter side of life — cosy naps, peaceful strolls & simply being close to his people 🐶He is wonderfully laid back ✅️🐶Dog friendly but resident dog(s) would need to be of a similar size. Loves other sighthounds ❌️🐶Will not be rehomed with small dogs - especially those similar in size to cats or small furries❌️ ❌️😺🐇🐁 No cats or small furries❌️ 🏡Timmy is looking for a loving forever home where he can be cherished & enjoy all the comforts he deserves 🏡He would adore a home where he can stretch out on his very own sofa, preferably with a soft duvet to snuggle into 🏡He is a true sighthound lover’s dream 🏡If you’re searching for an easy-going, affectionate companion to share relaxed days & warm evenings with, Timmy may just be the perfect addition to your home 🏡If you think you can offer Timmy the right home, please complete the application form by following the link below👇 🔗 greenacresrescue.org.uk/find-a-pet/dog… 📝FYI: Applications are processed Monday to Thursday. Please be patient, our Rehoming Team will be in contact with you as soon as possible📝 🏡🏥All successful applications will be subject to home & vet checks🏥🏡 📍Our animals are based in #Pembrokeshire South West #Wales While we do rehome across the UK, please keep our location in mind because visits to the centre are essential. We may also prioritise homes that are closer to the rescue For full details on our adoption process please visit: 🔗 greenacresrescue.org.uk/adoption-proce… 🔁Can’t adopt right now? The best way to help an animal in need is to SHARE THEIR POST so it reaches their forever home🔁 There has to be someone out there for him. Someone who sees what we see. Someone who will give this beautiful boy the love & comfort he so desperately deserves 💚🙏💚 #teamgreenacres #rescue #k9hour #rehomehour #seniorsaturday #seniordog #seniordogalert #teamzay

Peter Brook sometimes strayed over the border into Lancashire in search of fresh material. A favourite area was the Forest of Bowland, the subject of some 40 paintings during the 1980’s, including ‘Proctor’s Farm - Walls and Trees in Snow’. (Sold at Hartleys Auctioneers in 2010)

Judy: The Only Dog Registered as a WWII POW 🐕❤️ An English Pointer and Royal Navy mascot, Judy used her sharp hearing to warn ships of Japanese aircraft. When her vessel was torpedoed in 1942, she helped stranded sailors find fresh water on a remote island by digging a life-saving spring. Captured by Japanese forces, she became the only dog officially listed as a Prisoner of War. In a brutal Sumatran camp, Judy protected her handler Frank Williams and fellow prisoners — distracting violent guards, finding extra food, and giving hope to starving men. Liberated in 1945, she received the Dickin Medal (the animals’ Victoria Cross) for courage and endurance that saved lives. A true hero who never abandoned her companions. Loyalty like Judy’s shines even in the darkest times. ❤️ #JudyThePOW #WWIIHeroes #DogHeroes

BREAKING: The first 300 Ridglan beagles touched grass for the first time today. They stepped outside and looked up at the sun. Many are playful. Some are scared. All are learning the world can be safe. Today, they are free.

This Two Ronnies sketch was never televised originally (it appeared many years later), but I’ve no idea why. It was written by Ronnie Barker, under the pseudonym Gerald Wiley, and for my money it gives Four Candles a run for it’s money. Seriously, if I’d written something this good I’d just retire immediately. What a talent! Good morning.

A medieval palace in the English countryside has a small bell mounted by a window, with a rope hanging down to the moat below. Since the 1850s, the resident swans have been pulling the rope to ring the bell when they want to be fed. The tradition began when one of the bishop’s daughters taught it to a single swan in the 1850s, and the swans have been passing it on ever since. The current pair, Grace and Gabriel, are the latest in the line. Each year, after their cygnets hatch, Gabriel walks them up to the bell and teaches them to pull the rope before they leave the moat to start their own lives. The tradition is now 170 years old.

"Southern Water admits sewage pollution which occurred weeks after record fine." In 2021 Southern Water was fined £90,000,000 for illegally dumping sewage into the environment on almost 7,000 separate occasions. They have now also admitted that for the following 2 years they kept on illegally dumping sewage into Swalecliffe Brook in Whitstable and Faversham Creek causing fish kills and widespread devastation. Can someone explain to me why the CEO and directors aren't going to jail for this? itv.com/news/meridian/…

In Palitana, something happened that most of the world has never seen before. This city made a bold choice. Meat is no longer part of daily life there. Slaughterhouses were shut down. Butcher shops closed their doors. Selling or eating meat inside the city became illegal. This did not come from a trend or a government experiment. It came from deep belief. Hundreds of Jain monks protested. Many went on a hunger strike. They asked for a city that follows nonviolence in the purest form. No killing. No harm. And it worked. Around 250 butcher shops were forced to close. Thousands of animals were spared. For many people, it changed how they lived overnight. Not everyone agreed. Some lost their jobs. Some felt their choices were taken away. Others saw it as a powerful stand for compassion. No matter where you stand, one thing is clear. This is not just a policy. It is a statement. A whole city chose to say that life matters more than habit. And in a world where meat is everywhere, that choice stands out. Source: - Times of India... DAVID BOWIE BACKSTAGE AT THE POCO A POCO CLUB “He’s the man in the middle...” Every now and again a real treasure is uncovered having lain hidden for many years. Stockport Music Story has uncovered such a thing, a photo found by David Maynard in his loft recently, many years after the event. 56 years ago today on Monday 27th April 1970, David Bowie played a solo acoustic gig at The Poco A Poco Club on Manchester Road in Heaton Chapel, Stockport. He is pictured backstage here and you can read much more about the whole evening, including where he slept that night, over at Stockport Music Story: bit.ly/BowieStockport… #BowieStockport #Bowie1970

Next time you see a pigeon… pause. That small life has known hunger, cold nights, and a world that rarely notices it. They’re not asking for much— just a chance to survive. And sometimes… a little kindness is enough to change their whole day.
