@realBobLawler @johnrich @FLOTUS45 Exactly. There's a ton of real songwriters using AI in their music, making covers of their originals, demos. While some rant about it, others are choosing to use it. It's about the song, not AI. If a listener likes the song, wants to buy it, that's their choice to make.

I see your points and am struggling with them. Context: I am a professional tech guy who has also been a musician for nearly 50 years and writing original music for almost as long. I got my first song copyright registrations before I was old enough to (legally) drive. So, I am a creator and I have sincere questions. I didn’t learn to write, sing, or play multiple instruments in isolation. Did any of us? I first listened to existing music, then progressed to covering other artists’ work, before finally -using guitar or piano, my 4-track, and occasionally pen & paper- created my own original works. I suspect we all took similar paths. I love Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Joel, Tommy Shaw, Jack Blades, Danny Wilde, et al., and each played a major part in my musical and songwriting education. But should each of them get a piece of my royalties if someone records one of my original songs? And what about the countless songwriters who influenced my influences? Do they all get a cut too? If not, how is AI training any different? Where is the line between AI being merely influenced by training data and AI stealing those works? And if I upload to AI my bedroom demo of my original song and then prompt the AI to generate, from my expressive input (my original lyrics, melodies, vocal and instrumental performances), a professional sounding version of my original song, how is that fundamentally different from hiring a half-dozen musicians and paying $100s/hr for a studio to record a pro version of that same original song? Why should I be able to monetize the latter but not the former? Again, these are sincere questions.

These are my thoughts on AI generated music. We are preparing to fight for the rights of American creators all the way to the DC if necessary. Please repost and leave a comment👇@FLOTUS45

Today is Good Friday. Thank you Jesus for your amazing and unthinkable sacrifice. You died so that we could have life and life in abundance. Type “AMEN” if you honor what Jesus Christ did.

@ThatEricAlper Check out my song “Dust on the Bright Things” on YouTube. It’s literally about depression. 🤔😉😁 I think sad songs make us not feel so alone. That’s why I write blues-y ones. Of course, I cover the gamut in genres and emotions. It’s what I do. 🤷‍♀️

@JimArms09244913 Back at ya! The problem is having to pay off the song-nappers, in order to simply have a song heard. It cost a fortune. Thank you for always supporting my music and for your friendship all these years. You have an amazing voice, and deserve a lot more recognition.

@johnrich I had my original song, "Love Won't Take The Blame" copyrighted through the US Copyright Office, then used Suno to do a demo of it. Hope to get it recorded professionally soon. AI is a great tool for demos. youtube.com/watch?v=yrS7xj…
