@2147mill If you are a Londonder though, don’t bother with LISA 🥲

£10,000 sitting in a savings account.
Here's the most tax efficient way to deploy it.
Priority order:
→ 3 months expenses in easy access savings first. Non negotiable.
→ Remaining £6-7k straight into Stocks & Shares ISA. → Buy VWRP or VUAG. Global or US index fund.
→ If under 40: £4,000 into LISA first. Government adds £1,000 instantly.
→ Automate £200/month going forward. Never stop.
What not to do:
→ Leave it in a current account earning nothing
→ Put it all in crypto
→ Wait for the perfect moment
£10,000 invested today at 10%:
→ Worth £174,000 in 30 years.
The best time to deploy it was yesterday.
The second best time is today.

$ORCL Q4 FY26 earnings:
🟢 Revenue: $19.2B vs est. $19.09B
🟢 EPS: $2.11 vs est. $1.96
🟢 Backlog: $638B, up 363% YoY (record)
A clean beat across the board. The stock still fell around 8% after hours.
The reason isn't demand, it's the bill. Oracle is planning roughly $95B of AI capex next year and a $40B raise to fund it. The market saw a record backlog, then sold on the cost and debt needed to deliver it.

1 in 5 UK adults would have to borrow to cover a surprise £250 bill. A broken boiler is all it takes.
The fix is an emergency fund; the cash that stops a bad week becoming bad debt.
The rule most advisers use:
- 3 to 6 months of essential spending (rent, bills, food, not holidays)
- Easy access, not locked away
- A separate account, so you don't quietly spend it
- Not invested. This is safety money, not growth money
How many months of expenses do you keep?
English

@stevehill1mil It used to be 3-6 months. With the current conditions and job market I’d probably do 6-9 months.
