@bluexfab The issue is that some people treat the Legendarium like a standardized Biblical canon, when it was clearly written within the framing of being a mythic folklore, so each story is open to variations outside of said 'canon'. Only the LOTR trilogy and hobbit is a "fixed" story.

+ something I’ve never understood is the whole ‘canon vs non-canon’ debate (between non lorebros). Tolkien’s characters are so nuanced and sometimes full of gaps that I’ve read thousands of theories that even contradict one another, yet somehow both felt right to me

Man idk like I do think Haladriels do sometimes exaggerate how tragic of a figure Sauron is cause of TRoP’s portrayal of him being a lot more reluctant to be evil than in Tolkien’s writing But saying that Morgoth being abusive was also a show invention is… very stupid lmao

@cauldrononfire I certainly think there is fun to be had in shipping discourse, and understanding character motivations through those lenses, but yeah I don’t think it should be the primary avenue of analysis of these characters.

Regarding the whole haladriel VS silvergifting drama and canon, personally I don't think either ship is there in the books at all. Sauron has complex dynamics with many characters but none of them (not even the one I favour, because of Sauron's genuine emotions in canon among
