@SJAMcBride Any good ways of living here have been in spite of unionists and not because. Every civil right, every new house, every scrap of work in a Catholic area had to wrung from unionists grip. And even now they block A5 they block casement they block everything Irish here including Derry

We live in one of the best places there has ever been to be alive in the history of humanity - a period of unique peace, prosperity & progress. As we moan about our lot, we should realise our ancestors would have stampeded over one another to have this. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/comment/opinio…

Is this really the company the @theSNP & @Plaid_Cymru wish to keep? With the political wing of a terrorist group, who butchered Britons from England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland alike... Sinn Féin are a subversive force in British politics, who are determined to break up the UK and undermine the West - it is high-time we all remembered this fact, as opposed to treating them as reputable statesmen. Never forget, the only path SF & Co could come up with achieve "self-determination" was to launch a 30-year bombing campaign against the British state and innocents alike. Is this really what the people of Scotland & Wales voted for? 🗳
Michelle O’Neill@moneillsf

Mary Lou McDonald and I have spoken today with SNP leader John Swinney and Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth. The momentum for constitutional change across these islands is now greater than ever. People in Ireland, Scotland and Wales are looking towards a future beyond the Union, where we have full control over our own affairs. We discussed the enormous significance of this week’s election results, and the historic potential of having three nationalist, pro-independence First Ministers. We agreed to continue working together to strengthen the friendship between our nations, and to stand up for the democratic right of our people to self-determination.

If Ireland is such a wonderful place why are there so many Irish in Scotland? For those too simple to understand GFA, 95% of voters in RoI voted to approve no RoI territorial claim on NI which means NI is in UK.

Having outsourced their failed campaign to remove Northern Ireland from the UK to the Irish Government, Sinn Féin are now trying to disguise their own failures by clinging to the electoral fortunes of others. After years of overpromising and underdelivering, it’s embarrassing.

Historic change is underway in Ireland, Scotland & Wales. There is growing momentum for us to take control of our own affairs beyond the constraints & failures of Westminster. With the potential for three nationalist, pro-independence First Ministers, there is a real opportunity to shape a new & better future built on hope, prosperity & self-determination.

Scotland does indeed have the democratic right to leave the UK. It had in the 2014 referendum. It chose not to. Rightly. But if sometime in the future it does then I will not be disciplined enough to desist from saying ‘I told you so’ when sh*t hits the fan and you descend into excruciating austerity to keep afloat. Good luck, and good bye.
Douglas Chapman 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿@DougChapmanSCO

@afneil Why wouldn’t you wish Scotland well if we made the democratic decision to leave the UK? Strange attitude.

@Weepep3 @Javoudria A million people and their families have been in Northern Ireland for 400 years, they share Irish blood and have a unique identity than the rest of Ireland or even the mainland UK. Just because we call something differently doesn’t mean we should be ethnically cleansed away.

@LordWeirDUP @AlexKane221b @1PhilipSmith Largest party in a properly formatted democratic election gets to be called the biggest majority party hence SF,PC and SNP all nationalists that are the biggest party's and it doesn't matter what % voted. Although I'm not surprised at having to explain democracy to a unionist

“Taking on a challenge is a lot like riding a horse. If you’re comfortable while you’re doing it, you’re probably doing it wrong.” — Ted Lasso An honest and reasonable analysis of the 2026 GB elections. The reality of the 2026 elections across Great Britain is this: despite an era of political volatility, there has been no radical breakthrough for separation either regionally or nationally. England remains decisively pro-Union. Wales saw nationalist growth but not a mandate for separation. Scotland remains divided, not settled 🤷‍♂️ People like me are ferociously Northern Irish and resolutely pro-Union not out of nostalgia, but because we believe these nations are stronger together. Those who overpromise inevitable referendums, referendum victories or easy constitutional break-ups need to rethink. The challenge now is not tearing these islands apart, but building a modern Union that works, invests, innovates and competes globally. The UK need not think like a declining state nor accept the flawed propaganda of separatist Political cheerleaders. It should act like one of the most influential, capable and important nations on earth 🇬🇧
Michelle O’Neill@moneillsf

For the first time ever, there could be three nationalist, pro-Independence First Ministers across these islands. Historic change is happening. The demand for independence is growing.

@Choyaa13 @moneillsf In a democratic election you are the biggest party, the majority if you will,if you get the most votes from those cast, even if those cast are only 40% the non voting 60% have no say in it whatsoever. SF,PC and SNP ARE THE BIGGEST PARTYS IN THEIR OWN TERRITORY. NOT ROCKET SCIENCE

@moneillsf As you used to point out frequently, the First Minister role in NI is a joint position that you hold with a Unionist, and Unionism is still the biggest designation in the Assembly. The SNP lost seats, and in both Scotland and Wales, the Unionist share of the vote was higher.
