A late update on our recent pub that AgRP neurons do not contribute to DIO or GLP-1R agonism based weight reduction but essential for body temp during nutrient insufficiency, echoing @jflier's earlier finding that leptin is rather a fasting hormone: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Check out super cool new paper we contributed to , I’m calling it “"One SNP refolds a lncRNA and rewrites the rules of stem cell self-renewal.” A new lncRNA called HOTSCRAMBL sits in the HOXA cluster and works as a splicing chaperone — it recruits SRSF2 to help HOXA9 get properly spliced in blood stem cells. A common variant (rs17437411) doesn't destroy the RNA, it refolds it, hiding the SRSF2 binding sites. The result: a dysfunctional decoy that can't scaffold splicing, HOXA9 levels drop, stem cells lose self-renewal, and leukemia growth gets constrained. The variant hits harder than a full knockout because the misfolded RNA actively interferes. It's essentially a built-in genetic brake on blood cancer. For 40+ years, we’ve known how UCP1 drives thermogenesis—but how UCP1-independent pathways are activated remained unknown. Thrilled to share our @Nature paper, led by Faiz Hussain, uncovering this mechanism: nature.com/articles/s4158…

🚨 excited to share our latest preprint, led by the soon-to-be Dr. @guytochondria! We tackle a striking case of conditional dependence on UFMylation, a UBL modification pathway whose contributions to cell fitness have been a bit of a "black box." 🧵 biorxiv.org/content/10.648…
