Thank you to our two keynote speakers who gave a talk at our recent Symposium: Dr. Zhifeng Ding (Department of Chemistry) and Dr. Yang Zhao (Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering). We were extremely happy to have you. Also, thank you for the glow sticks Dr. Ding!

We held our 6th Annual Graduate Student Symposium this Tuesday! We had approximately 25 attendees including 6 presentations from graduate students or Postdoctoral Fellows. Lots of discussions and constructive feedback took place. We already can't wait for next year's symposium!

Saman is completing his PhD. under the supervision of Dr. Yolanda Hedberg where he is investigating the corrosion properties of biomedical alloys in physiologically relevant conditions. Saman will be our new Outreach Officer.

Justin is completing his PhD. under the supervision of Dr. Andy Sun. He is currently developing next-generation solid-state batteries for electric vehicle applications. Justin will be our new Treasurer.

Prof. Samantha Gateman, Chair of Radiation Induced Chemistry is looking to recruit interested graduate students. Research interests involve using microscale electrochemical methods as prediction tools to advance corrosion resistance strategies for materials undergoing radiation.
