Update: The @CityofMiami apparently did not respond to the first demand letter. Now, there's a follow-up letter from @FSUCollegeofLaw First Amendment Clinic. Upshot: A complaint is being drafted. Read the latest letter here: documentcloud.org/documents/2808…

Inbox: @FSUCollegeofLaw First Amendment Clinic is challenging the @CityofMiami Media Policy "to protect free speech and press access." Issue: It "blocks government employees from speaking directly to the press." Demand letter here: cloudup.com/ccVB_ehXS_b

A substantial issue uncovered in this @TheFloridaTrib/@propublica investigation is that Florida officials have stonewalled records requests (and requests for comment) about their purported investigation into this company’s ability to do business with public agencies here.

New: Most of Florida’s jails have stopped contracting with Armor Health companies, which have been sued repeatedly for subpar care. Only one jail, where Brian Tracey died, still uses a company affiliated with Armor. propub.li/3QAy7l8

EXCLUSIVE: @IowaStateU’s move to suspend—then cut—women’s gymnastics sparked a flood of emails to AD Jamie Pollard and other @CycloneATH officials, with suggestions on how to save, replace, or simply “adjust” the program. @Sportico reviewed hundreds of FOIA-obtained messages revealing the behind-the-keyboard machinations of a D-I program's elimination.

The high cost of homeowner's insurance makes it impossible for anyone to live in Florida except for the super wealthy, or those whose houses are paid off and they no longer carry it. Anyone who runs for office must address this.
Holly Bullard@HollyBullardFL

“80% of Florida residents were concerned about housing affordability & 43% said they lived paycheck to paycheck. Nearly half said they had considered leaving Florida because of the cost of living.”

Important piece by @ben_c_rowen on the dangers of replacing -- not supplementing -- journalists with influencers. This is just as important in sports journalism, where the very nature of our subject matter lends itself toward entertainment vs. facts and critical analysis. texasmonthly.com/news-politics/…
