As part of our work at Sumu, we captured this footage yesterday at the main watering hole. Listen closely — you can hear faint calls of West African birds in the background. Bird enthusiasts: which species do these sounds remind you of?

Thanks to the partnership between the @NigeriaParks and the @ANI_Foundation to work together and better manage @GumtiPark. Wildlife population is thriving and bouncing back while communities around the park now see the benefits of living alongside wildlife. Partnership that works

This is the kind of support that #WACN needs for the Kainji Lake National Park in Nigeria 🇳🇬. At the moment we are sourcing for resources to increase ranger numbers, their salaries, and comprehensive equipping of the entire ranger team at the park in order to regain control.

#LuangwaValley is home to Zambia's largest lion population. With an LRF grant, #ConservationSouthLuangwa supported their protection with improved anti-poaching enforcement, 24/7 emergency wildlife rescue, & the development of a Game Management Areas management plan!

Within the next week, #WACN officials will be on the ground interacting with the @NigeriaParks team at the Kainji Lake National Park. Part of the agenda is vehicle refurbishments and purchases among others for ease of movement by rangers. We can’t wait to start having operational vehicles with WACN logos on them alongside those of the park service… Slowly but surely, we move!!!

Dr. @SalakoIziaq, Minister of State for Environment, launched Nigeria's National Elephant Action Plan (NEAP) to protect our declining elephant population and preserve biodiversity. This marks a critical step in reversing the threat to our iconic wildlife.

Today is World Lion Day. The lion population of the #Kainji Lake National Park is one of our focus species. Support the #WACN Kainji Lake National Park Project as we begin the early stages of our painstaking yet ambitious boots-on-the-ground project to recover this incredible park. We start off first in the coming months by working on operational vehicles for @NigeriaParks for the purpose of logistics and patrols, and then continue to evolve.
