#SBCoFD is ready to respond with additional staffing, prepositioned resources including swift water rescue teams and heavy equipment.

Your @fontanastation Search & Rescue team worked for over 10 hours last night to rescue two injured hikers who fell into an ice chute in Cucamonga Canyon. With the assistance of @LACoFireAirOps Copter 15; both hikers were safely hoisted out and transported to an area hospital.

All Vista Fire closures in the Angeles National Forest have been lifted. Visitors can access the Mt. Baldy area, the trail network leading to Mt. Baldy (Mt. San Antonio), and the Blue Ridge area.

22 year SAR veteran Franks Kams retired from the team this month & was honored with a plaque last night. Frank has served many roles including Commander, Past Commander & Director of the Inland Empire SAR Council. Frank will be around as he works for Volunteer Forces.

We will miss Frank on the team. So grateful for the years of service and friendship.

We would like to remind hikers to travel with friends and wear appropriate gear for their conditions.

Your WVSAR team was called out Sunday night to search for an overdue hiker. The team located the hiker, who had succumb to injuries sustained from fall in steep conditions. The team was forced to camp overnight until day light when they could all be hoisted out by aviation.

Today we remember our @WestValleySAR Brother Tim Staples and the ultimate sacrifice he made on 12/14/19. Tim slipped in icy conditions during a Search on #MtBaldy and fell down an ice chute. 🧡 #FontanaStation #SBCSD #SearchandRescue
