Every disk drill protill and vertical tillage tool in the country should be cut up and sold for scrap tomorrow. I hope some people are learning some management strategies from guys that don’t have everything blowing. And for god sakes don’t harrow canola stubble in the spring

Here is a pretty good explainer video describing the fall of Monette Farms. For those who do not know, Monette Farms is a massive farm & livestock syndicate that farms over 400,000 acres. A $950 million dollar loan was called in April and Monette had absolutely no money to pay it. This looks like clear abuse of the bankruptcy system as well, he could foresee this and still kept purchasing as many assets as he possibly could, he never put together a plan to strategically sell off assets and focus on a specific area, instead he inflated the debt as high as possible, demanded an emergency loan for another $100 million and will let all the creditors he abused eat shit while he likely funnels off grain to some strategic binyard somewhere this harvest. Lets see what happens though.

Good idea , this fall I will have no guards or sections on the combine or in the shop.
I will shut down a 3/4 million combine , drive my ass to town half an hour , and buy the singular part I broke. And then drive back half an hour to change said part.

I don’t usually notice milestone dates but this one plays a significance to me. April 5 2025 was my last injection of Simponi- an immuno suppressant medication I had been on for 15 years. The backstory is around the time I was 16, while playing AAA midget hockey i started to get stiffer and more sore. Started in my hips, then into knees and feet and finally upper back and neck area. Tried most normal treatments like physio, chiro, massage, reflexology, acupuncture with little to no lasting relief. Regular NSAID pain meds like advil, aleve , vioxx! robaxacet would help a bit but pain was always a constant. Was able to play first year of jr A hockey with winkler/neepawa as 18 yr old but then had to quit. Will never forget when coach Atkinson phoned in the summer asking me if I wanted to wear the C the next year and I told him my body was broken down and wouldn’t be able to play. So I needed a job where I didn’t have to be on my feet, my uncle Ray drove truck and that seemed like a good job so that’s what I did Worked for some amazing people over

I’m in Simponi now. Struggled for years with sire joints, diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. Tried all the standard drugs and they all made me sick . Went the diclofinac route for years until I went back to rheumatologist and got Simponi. Been a life saver, I’m also currently changing behaviours , Nov booze , 6 days a week workouts for last 5 months. Feel fantastic, I’ve been thinking about extending Simponi shits as well. Thanks for the info

Most farmers are stuck in a cycle of overproducing corn and soybeans because every other commodity price sucks too. The only way out might be banding together to form a co-op that actually builds a brand instead of just selling raw material.
If you paired a group of hungry farmers with a seasoned CPG operator who knows how to get into Costco and Walmart, could that be the ticket to creating our own market? Or is the co-op model too broken to fix?
