South Central’s junior QB Easton Huck shined in their big win over Wichita County last Friday, securing a Sectional Title and a trip to the 8M-I Sub-State. Huck was outstanding through the air, throwing for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns with zero interceptions. He was just as dangerous on the ground, adding 226 rushing yards for 388 total yards on the night. Huck also made an impact defensively, recording 7 tackles.
On the season, Huck has been one of the most efficient playmakers in 8-Man football, throwing 23 touchdowns to just 1 interception, while adding 16 rushing touchdowns and surpassing 2,000 total yards. South Central now gears up for a huge matchup with Hill City as they look to keep their undefeated season alive and punch their ticket to the 8M-I State Championship. #sportsinkansas

SIK Pre-Season Player to Watch: Jack Herd returns for his senior year as one of the top two-way players in 1A after a dominant junior campaign for South Central. The 6’3”, 205-pound tight end/linebacker tallied 121 tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception in 2024, following up a 103-tackle sophomore season. Herd is arguably the top multi-sport athlete in 1A heading into his senior year. In addition to being a 2025 1A state champion in javelin, he was one of the leading scorers in the 2024 state basketball tournament and earned multiple first team all-state basketball honors across publications. He was also a finalist for Sports in Kansas 1A Player of the Year in basketball. “I’m really excited for this season because of the potential of my team,” Herd said. “We have plenty of unfinished business, especially after losing in the 2023 state championship and 2024 sub-state game. I’m excited to lead this team with a bunch of young guys who are ready to do whatever it takes to win. Our goal is to purely dominate our competition, win a state title, and enjoy every moment together.” #sportsinkansas
