@ciarancannon Parents need to understand why the RSA but an age to use these on the road. These are NOT toys! I think though there are questions to be answered on how these were regulated for and what level of communications were to the forefront of shops selling these and parents buying them?

Dear @RSAIreland @GardaTraffic @GardaTraffic Could you please not refer to these as e-bikes! THEY’RE NOT! An e-bike is a pedal-assisted electric bicycle with a max power of 250 watts, max speed of 25 kph. ‘Pedal-assisted’ means the electric motor cuts off when pedalling stops.

A 3yr study allowing Parisian cyclists to treat some red traffic lights as "give way" sign led to a *reduction* in collisions between cycles and motor vehicles during the trial period and is now being more widely implemented. Suspect some British drivers would rage about this!
