Based on the number of people I personally know who sat out the 2018 midterms simply because Trump went after bumpstocks, I think 2026 is going to be extremely eye opening for "Ed Gallrein conservatives". Bumpstocks weren't a nationally recognized issue. It was mostly just gun rights extremists who cared. I tried to convince many of them to show up anyway, hold their nose, and pull the lever. We all know how that went. The boomer class might be able to flex up on a closed primary but they'll have to contend with a very angry and thus unified democrat turnout come November. Better buckle up, the summer's just beginning.

I subscribe to the "broken lightbulbs" theory with manufacturing. In my previous career I was in & out of hundreds of CNC shops, stamping plants, injection molders, electronics assembly, heat treaters, electroplaters... basically everything. When I walked in and was presented with a brightly lit shop it was an immediate sign I was inside a place that cared about their work, and a place that would listen to what I had to say. There were definitely a few outliers - some real dungeons making really impressive parts. But those were rare. When I installed the lighting in our facility we used 75 foot candles as the target. OSHA requires between 10-30 as the "minimum. Some high detail manufacturing and visual QC can require 100-200 FC. A lot of manufacturing is just standing on ladders, changing lightbulbs, adding electrical outlets, and moving pallet racks. "For want of a nail, the kingdom was lost."

Your stories inspired me every single day. The Navy SEAL Teams taught me that no mission is accomplished alone.
