Need some good news? Washington state just passed a 9.9% tax on households earning >$1 million/year AND expanded its state EITC to 460K families! Gov. Ferguson says he’ll sign the measures into law. It's a huge step forward for one of the country’s most inequitable tax systems.

My best tip for anyone trying to get back into reading is to remember that you can read books to avoid other responsibilities in your life, and it can become a vice if you play your cards right.

While Congress cuts taxes for the ultra-wealthy, many states are heeding the calls of residents and making a different choice: ensuring the rich pay their fair share & investing in affordability for low- and middle-income families. Washington just proved it's possible.

Oh, and the "millionaire tax flight" opponents predicted? It didn’t happen! Turns out, millionaires want to live in states with great public education, drivable roads, too ─ and scare tactics about tax flight by the opposition were overblown.

Cutting health care and food assistance isn't the only way to close a budget gap. My team’s latest report outlines practical revenue options that help states balance budgets without deep cuts to vital services. cbpp.org/research/state…

Data centers building their own power plants won't bring residential electricity prices down - it'll skip oversight and regulations and remove opportunities to invest in critical public infrastructure #CBPPSOTU

Even as President Trump talks up his health proposals, key decisions he has already made are making care unaffordable for millions. Federal policies he backed will leave some 15M uninsured. If they stood in a line, it would reach from Chicago to Buenos Aires. #CBPPSOTU
