I used some Razor-powered libraries for this a decade ago - no idea what the state of the art is now

Looking for recommendations: best .NET libraries for formatting / templating HTML emails for transactional emailing. We've been using MailGun's API for doing this for years but I think we're about to outgrow that system.

I've owned a few HP printers over the years, and while I do like their ink subscription service, the printers themselves have been unreliable when it comes to staying connected. Sometimes I can print from my PC, phone, or tablet - other times not so much. I'm looking for a dependable printer (color laser or inkjet) that just works. Any recommendations?

@SeanBrydon13 The fun thing about mini-computers is that you can just put one on top of the other. It's a limited outlay. If the SER9 seems like a splurge, the SER8 is just $500 for only 20% less performance.

@dhh Will some of this stuff trickle down to omakub? Already a user since last oct, but due to working on dotnet can't switch to arch.

Omarchy v1.6.0 is out. Huge upgrade! New screenshot + screenrecording flows. New much-faster app launcher + emoji picker + inline calculator. New sound TUI. New Catppuccin Latte light theme. Tons of fixes. github.com/basecamp/omarc…

@Aaronontheweb @davidfowl or just use something like github.com/maildev/mailde… for local dev (via docker compose or aspire) and don't really bother with a conditional logic and always send the email... bonus point: if you're using some email templating lib/tool you can also quickly check the output

@davidfowl I think I even have a version that just emits the settings outright without any options stuff at all, since these are all singletons

This is an anti-pattern I keep finding in Sdkbin's code base and it's extremely pernicious: "implicit configuration" in this case, we disable new account email confirmations when we're running in the "Development" environment to make local "click testing" easier

Working on @AkkaDotNET Bootcamp 2.0 and one of the things I really appreciate about Mermaid diagrams is how readable they are - one of the big advantages of using native SVGs instead of bitmaps

@Aaronontheweb @est_jack @AkkaDotNET @SmartDraw Happend to me quite frequently to add a new node, an the output would change radically from what i had before ( some subgraph that was rendered on the left side would automagically move on the right)

@Aaronontheweb @est_jack @AkkaDotNET @SmartDraw been using mermaid quite heavily il the last year ( it‘s available inAzDevops wiki pages and in GitHub issues). Works quite well for small / medium diagrams. It shows it‘s limits on a bigger diagram because you have no control on the layout

@linqpad nice 👍 how would the macos version be licensed? Would it work with the same licences? would it be it's own thing ?

Aspire 9.1 (planned for mid Feb) new dashboard feature: Nested resources. Child resources are nested under their parent, e.g. a database is nested under its container. #dotnet #aspire

TIL: You can paste Mermaid diagram code into Excalidraw, and it will render a beautiful diagram for you. Bonus points - you can ask AI to write the Mermaid code.

@ddoomen (sorry got no notification for your answer) - yep it's Azure Devops. $[] is this #runtime-expression-syntax" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/de… vs ${{}} is the Template expression syntax for vars (same link) vs $() which is in turn a Macro syntax variable

@WhiteRGR Is that Azure DevOps? And why do you use $[] instead of ${{}}?

Spent most of this morning trying to find the secret Azure DevOps Pipelines YAML combination to pass "true" to an environment variable when either another variable is true or a parameter is. Officially giving up now...

Does the Microsoft SQL Server docker container have perf limitations? I know SQL Server requires licenses but if I’m troubleshooting and experimenting an issue can I just spin up a container or am I going to get a false sense of my results due to any limitations or restrictions?

@jeremydmiller if you're gonna redo something, please redo the "orthogonal code" one :) it was such an eye-opener for me (a fresh MS-by-the-book dev) back in '08-'09 when i read it 🫡 even with today's updated toolkit, i still come across tightly coupled code like the article's starting point

Some day soon-ish, I'm rewriting an old CodeBetter essay on "The surprisingly valuable lessons I learned from the worst project of my career". Remembering today that we had a mandatory, bi-weekly "the beatings will continue until morale improves" meeting

@Aaronontheweb probably just a fancy name for your datacenter + something like Azure Stack on top to allow some cloud-like turn-key workloads
