Agreement: • Australia supplies Singapore with LNG • Singapore supplies Australia with diesel Significance: • Singapore currently supplies 41% of Australia’s petrol • Deal uses LNG leverage strategy to secure priority access But: • Energy Minister Bowen admits 6 tankers bound for Australia already cancelled/postponed • Singapore refineries need Hormuz crude oil to make diesel • This secures priority, not additional supply It’s damage control, not a solution.

Yes that is true. Singapore does have a mutual agreement with New Zealand dealing with this very thing. Singapore provides fuel to NZ, and in return NZ provides food to Singapore. Australia should have made a deal like that with Singapore / another country from which Australia imports fuel.

@GrantKH1961 True, but also the Iranian regime needs to sell oil to fund itself. Singapore is a major oil refining hub. Depends on whether ideology or existential worry is concerning the regime more.

@WhiteRabbitIA Singapore needs to be careful with whom they make deals. Iran is in full control and could shutdown all oil shipments to Singapore to ensure the genocide supporting countries don't get it.
