As a Ravens fan from the 1996 season on, I’ll speak for all of us when I say that we love what Iowa football has given to our team.
Notes on Iowa@notesoniowa

Iowa Time Machine ⏰: On April 28, 2007, the Baltimore Ravens selected Marshal Yanda in the third round of the NFL draft. A standout lineman at Anamosa High School, North Iowa Area Community College, and the University of Iowa, Yanda went on to a Pro Bowl NFL career. Known for his work ethic, the Cedar Rapids Gazette featured the 13-year-old Yanda for raising Cornish roosters to save money for a pickup truck. A standout athlete in Anamosa, Yanda excelled in football, basketball, and track. After high school Yanda enrolled at NIACC in Mason City and played right guard for the Trojans. By the time the 6’6”, 310-pound Yanda signed with the Hawkeyes in 2004, he’d already collected 1st-Team All-Region and honorable mention NJCAA All-American honors while playing at NIACC. Continuing to bring his outstanding work ethic to the trenches in Iowa City, Yanda earned second-team All-Big 10 honors while gaining the attention of professional scouts. Drafted with the 86th overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft, Yanda set about making an impression immediately. After appearing in all sixteen games his rookie season, the Anamosa product continued to develop into one of the league’s best linemen. With six consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2011 to 2016 (the longest active streak amongst guards at the time), Yanda gained a reputation as one of the league’s best linemen while winning a Super Bowl (XLVII). Yanda spent his entire thirteen-year career with the Ravens. #Iowa #OTD #History #Football #NFL

Nick Cave responding to a grieving mother who worries that she forsaw, or perhaps even willed, the death of her young child is one of the most beautiful things you will read today.

I’ve watched the HBO From the Earth to the Moon series probably four or five times, but hearing a live go/no-go for launch for Artemis II is chill inducing

When I look up at that rocket and the four astronauts sitting on top of it, I see America at its very best. Our country is deeply divided and we have real challenges. But I'd encourage everyone to watch this launch today and be proud of our country and what we're capable of when we work together.

The hatch is now closed. The Artemis II astronauts are now strapped into their seats and ready for launch.

@TheFakeBobVila I think in this context they're using the term to mean a group of proximate-but-otherwise-unrelated properties. Which, I guess, yeah. Good term, but not one I've used before. Maybe a fancy way to say "houses on the same block"?

@WhoToTheWhatNow Haha. I was thinking it is just a small neighborhood with like 5 or 6 houses.

This is truly insane, and it should be front page news across America.  Denmark secretly deployed soldiers to Greenland prepared to blow up airport runways to stop a U.S. invasion. They brought blood supplies to treat the wounded. France, Germany, Norway, and Sweden quietly coordinated against us. This was not a drill. This was our closest allies preparing to fight Americans. Let that sink in. NATO allies. Countries whose soldiers have fought and died alongside ours for decades. They looked at this president and decided they had to prepare for the worst. Fewer allies does not make America great. It makes us more isolated, more vulnerable, and it hands Russia and China exactly what they have always wanted: an America abandoned by its friends. The American people deserve to know how badly this president has damaged our standing in the world.  bbc.com/news/articles/…
