That is not factually correct. The violence in Nigeria is real and horrific, but it does not affect Christians alone. According to the Associated Press and ACLED data, both Christians and Muslims have been killed in significant numbers. For example, reporting cited 317 Christian deaths in religion-targeted incidents compared with 417 Muslim deaths in the same period. (AP News) ACLED also reports that from 2009 onward, just under 53,000 civilians — including both Muslims and Christians — have died from targeted political violence in Nigeria. (Wikipedia) Reuters and AP both note that the crisis is driven by a mix of: • terrorism • banditry • land disputes • ethnic conflict • kidnappings • communal violence So no, it is not accurate to say this is simply “Muslims murdering Christians as they always have.” Nigerians of different faiths are being killed. The reality is much more complex than a single-faith narrative.
