@tsteele93 @jjenn050 That's why I'd rather it not go to the government in the 1st place. Corporations have been taking over every aspect of society, (for decades) buying political favors while the poor get the leftover crumbs. The founding fathers warned us of this.

The problem is that they don't really give it to the people who need it. They hire their friend's NGO to feed the poor people with your tax money and then, if you are lucky, 5 or 10 cents on every dollar you give them actually goes to the poor. The rest makes them and their friends rich.

I was getting Arby's for my son and I tonight. I looked at the prices of the meals. $13 for many of the items. Nearly $30 for fast food dinner. It would have cost $12 total less than ten years ago. Every dime I have saved towards retirement is worth a penny now. Having a 401(k) with a million bucks is paltry when you consider how hard inflation will continue to eat into it each year after you quit putting money into it. The system is rigged. Only cheaters win. The rest of us work our whole lives only to be poor at the end due to massive inflation from socialist ideas like minimum wage and absurdly wasteful and fraud-riddled government programs. The country is in debt up to its eyeballs and our money is losing value every year, at a growing rate. What a disappointing end to the American Dream.

12/ The people you love are not safe just because they stay quiet. They are one algorithm away from being flagged. One post away from being frozen out. One decision away from being targeted — and you will not be able to protect them. This thread is not hypothetical. This infrastructure is being built right now. CBDCs. Digital IDs. AI surveillance. Social credit systems. We have to stop it before it goes live. Before the people we love become leverage against us. Share this thread. Make people see what is at stake. Show them that surveillance does not just threaten liberty — it weaponizes love. Every day I share warnings like this. Context that exposes what is being built. Alarm bells that will not stop ringing until enough people wake up and stand against this system. Follow me. Not because I have all the answers — but because the threat is real, the window is closing, and we need every voice willing to fight before it is too late. Preserve Liberty by Preserving Privacy.

One could argue that they have also convinced the people making $7.50 an hour that the problem is the people who make $25.00 an hour. I do think that paying unskilled workers a forced minimum wage runs up the prices of fast food though. One big difference in my generation (Gen X) views is that when we were growing up, fast food was how teenagers entered the work force. It was part-time and almost noone expected that kind of job to support a family. So it isn't some class warfare, it is based on experience and expectations. The next generations will have their own version of the same thing. When I was young, my grandfather used to complain that candy bars were $0.35 because they were a nickel when he was a kid.

@jjenn050 @tsteele93 If you want to continue paying for other people's wages that's your choice. I'd prefer my taxes go towards people who NEED it. Not the ones working and struggling to pay their next bill. Either employers pay, or the taxpayers do. Right now, the burden is on taxpayers.

Can anyone tell me what a “fair” tax on the “rich” is? I still can’t get a straight answer. Is it 30%? Is it 50%? Is it 90%? And what would be considered “rich”?

My contribution to the dog discourse is that it's rude to ask a dogless person if you can bring your dog to their home. They know what dogs are. If they wanted a dog in their home, they would own a dog. They don't own a dog because they don't want a dog in their home.

He’s right!! 🔥👇🏼 “The biggest threat facing the United States of America and our constitutional rights and our freedoms and our privileges and our way of life is not China or Russia or Iran or Venezuela or Cuba or any other country. Ladies and gentlemen, the biggest threat that you and I face right here in the United States is the radical left, who have completely infiltrated just about every aspect of our lives and they’ve done everything in their power to try to destroy this country.” They’ve done everything humanly possible to destroy this country. America would be unrecognizable today if Trump didn’t win.

You're a loser, Chris. You were literally cheering for the enemy — gleefully regurgitating Iranian propaganda to undermine your own country's interests. It's an insult to the American heroes very effectively enforcing the blockade. Moron.
Chris Murphy 🟧@ChrisMurphyCT

Ok Twitter, I can’t believe I need to clarify this but obviously Trump’s bungled mismanagement of this war is not “awesome”. As I have said a million times here, it’s a disaster and he should end the war immediately. My tweet was something called “sarcasm”.

CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG BUT, As I turn 43 this year, I have realised, as a man, no one cares about you. Not your wife. Not your family. Not your friends. Not your workmates. Nobody. People act like they care, but deep down, they don't. You are on your own. Always on your own.

Bull Theory@BullTheoryio

🚨 THIS IS INSANE. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick's sons could be making 3 to 5x returns on every dollar they spent buying tariff refund rights. Cantor Fitzgerald, now run by Lutnick's sons Brandon and Kyle, was buying tariff refund claims from companies at 20 to 30 cents on the dollar. The firm told clients it had "capacity to trade up to several hundred million" in these claims. They confirmed at least one $10 million trade was already executed as of July 2025. They said they expected that number to "balloon in the coming weeks." That was 9 months ago. Today those claims are worth 100 cents on the dollar. The refund portal is live, $166 billion in refunds are being processed. If Cantor bought $100 million in refund rights at 25 cents on the dollar, they spent $25 million. They now collect $100 million from the government. That is a $75 million profit. A 300% return. If they scaled to "several hundred million" as they told clients they could, the profits run into the hundreds of millions. Howard Lutnick was the architect of the tariff policy. He pushed Trump to impose them. He fought against officials who wanted to limit them. Then he left Cantor Fitzgerald to his sons and transferred his equity into a trust benefiting them. Tax free under government ethics rules. He received $360 million from the buyout. His sons positioned the firm to profit from the exact policy their father built. Their father publicly championed tariffs he knew could be struck down while his sons were buying refund claims betting they would be.

The weakest comments in my social media are "You voted for this." That is SUCH a weak, pathetic comment. Yes. I did. Yes, I worked this guy's campaign. I OWN it. But have you NEVER made a mistake? Never broken up with someone because you realized you were dating the wrong person? Never quit a job that wasn't right for you? Never bought something and had to return it because it didn't work? Sit down.
