A day ago I was praising Kenny Gibson's appointment as Presiding Officer in the Scottish Parliament. He was a surprise appointment - and five minutes in he shows improper and possibly unlawful bias. Sold his soul to gain power. Beyond disappointing.

Why is "anti-vaxxer" even a phrase still in use by the media at all? We don't call vegetarians "anti-meaters" or non-smokers "anti-fag-ers" or atheists "anti-God-ers" or couch potatoes "anti-trainers-ers" or teetotallers "anti-lager-ers" or rugby fans "anti-roundball-ers", do we? These are all matters of personal choice, just like getting vaccinated. "Ah! But unlike people who don't eat meat or don't smoke or don't play football, the unvaccinated are putting everyone at risk" people will say. To which I would reply: 1. If vaccines work, the unvaccinated are only putting themselves and other unvaccinated people at risk. Unvaccinated people have actively made that choice and decided that they are willing to take that risk. 2. If vaccines don't work, you shouldn't be calling the unvaccinated derogatory and inaccurate names, should you?

Moving forward manifesto’s should be made a legally binding contract in order to protect the electorate from parties that lie just to get in power. Brexit was not in Labour’s manifesto Digital ID was not in Labour’s manifesto Assisted dying was not in Labour’s manifesto Jury Trials cancelled was not in Labour’s manifesto Abortion up until birth was not in Labour’s manifesto Jury Trials I could go on & on. Manifesto’s should be legally binding Who else agrees?

@piersmorgan The problem with UK 'democracy' is that 'turkeys don't vote for Christmas', so they won't do anything to jeopardise their gravy train seat. Tie PMs & MPs wages to delivering on manifesto promises, & growing the economy. See how their performance changes? Socialism never works.

Given the ridiculous volume of Prime Ministers that Britain’s endured in recent years, I think it should now be law that if a PM quits or is forced out during his/her term, it automatically triggers a new general election. That might concentrate their minds to do a better job.

I think a better idea would be for an incoming government to be on probation for the first year and be subject to a confirmatory referendum of the population before they are allowed to continue. Also the population should be able to recall a government beyond that time if sufficient numbers sign an official petition. Politicians would complain they'd be under constant scrutiny from the electorate and be unable to get on with their job. But constant scrutiny from the electorate IS their job.

If Sweeting wants to rejoin the EU, democracy demands that the public must be given the democratic right to have their say. Labour stated in their manifesto that we would not be rejoining the EU. We either have a referendum or a General Election.
