@kiiinggdre The people who would otherwise spend 2 hours driving plus $100/day parking plus $18.25 (18 1/4%) in tax plus $30 in gas. These are the people who would rather pay $95, park for free, and fly to Manhattan in just 5 minutes.

@wiesenthal Really into the concept of having people still need to go to JFK to even be able to use the service. What’s the point if to even use the service you need to get into the city first? And then who is the target? What daily customer is shelling out presumably 190 a day on this?

Elon Musk deserves every single penny he has made. And I hope he becomes the world’s first trillionaire. He’s using his wealth to help blind people see and paralyzed people walk. I’d rather that money stay in his hands than go to Elizabeth Warren, who’d likely see it wasted on fraud in Somalia or some other government boondoggle. Yes, he has a massive slice of the pie — but he’s made the entire pie dramatically bigger for everyone on Earth. That’s why we enjoy a higher quality of life than any civilization in human history. So Blade is pretty awesome: 5 min flight from Manhattan to JFK for $150. But I’m the only person on this helicopter. Surely they’re hemorrhaging money, no?

@Austen Where at JFK do you get dropped off and how do you then get to the terminals?

@realMeetKevin @Austen A 10 minutes of waiting time at our Manhattan Blade Lounge, you will be curbside at your JFK terminal in 25 minutes. Try doing that in your Uber.

In fairness, this ignores that you have to deboard your arriving flight > exit the normal terminal with your bags > get picked up curb side > drive to the private terminal with the Blade staff > wait for your departure flight time (scheduled, so you're usually waiting another 30-60m), and, when you arrive in Manhattan, you still have to drive or Subway to your destination (so add that time). They'll also add a premium surcharge if you book an Uber with them (so Uber black prices PLUS surcharge). So, long story short, you're paying $150 for probably 80-120 minutes of travel, not 5 minutes. You get ~5 minutes of FLYING as part of your process. An Uber costs the same and takes the same time, but takes you to your final destination. Takes longer during rush hour (could be 2 hours, so train beats usually). The Long Island Trail/Subway will cost ya under $20 and takes about 65 minutes. So if you want consistent, fast, and cheap: Train. So maybe that's why it's empty.

@Austen It’s a weird middle market, I think they make a lot on CT routes, but usually it’s $500ish each.

@artpi @Austen You fly with a carry on to 25 pounds plus a personal item. You all can purchase an excess luggage option and bring up to 65 pounds.
