It would’ve been a show of strength for the President of the United States to bring the elected leader of Ukraine to the Oval Office and engage with him in a dignified way.   But you would never know that after President Trump’s shameful display. Putin must be overjoyed with today’s theatrics. Following the U.S. vote in alignment with Russia at the United Nations this week, a disturbing pattern has emerged that is contrary to America’s longstanding support of democracy around the world.

President Trump’s simpering fealty to Vladimir Putin and Russia is embarrassing and dangerous. Illinois stands with Ukraine, and so should the White House.

Donald Trump is embarrassing the United States on the world stage. We are a country that stands up to dictators and fights for democracy. Minnesota stands firmly with our allies in Ukraine.

STOP IT! The mainstream media is now spinning this as a shouting match, when the only two people who were raising their voices were Trump and Vance. Trump totally lost his cool. Never in history have we seen an American president behave like this. Trump is a national disgrace.

Zelensky is a wartime leader watching his people suffer and die under Russian attacks every day. To be lectured and lied to by Trump and Vance, as they defend the war criminal dictator committing these atrocities, is unimaginable agony. An everlasting shame for America.

Trump and Vance are not selling out Ukraine because of anything Zelenskyy said to them. Trump and Vance are selling out Ukraine because of things Putin and Musk said to them.

The President of the United States just made the biggest mistake any president could ever make. He expected fealty and got a leader who stood up and said we are not going to be f*cked over by you. For all those saying nobody dare stand up to Trump. This is how it’s done. Time for Europe to step up now.

Trump berates Zelensky, the leader of a democratic country courageously fighting Russian imperialism, while he allies himself with Putin, a dictator who started the bloodiest European war in 80 years. Sorry, President Trump. We believe in democracy, not authoritarianism.

I have covered presidential politics for 40 years. This was the most juvenile display by a President and Vice President I have ever seen. Other presidents treated their enemies with more respect. This is a low point and a dark day for the US.

Generations of American patriots, from our revolution onward, have fought for the principles Zelenskyy is risking his life to defend. But today, Donald Trump and JD Vance attacked Zelenskyy and pressured him to surrender the freedom of his people to the KGB war criminal who invaded Ukraine. History will remember this day— when an American President and Vice President abandoned all we stand for.
