I had an exchange with Matt Goodwin about claims he has introduced errors into his new book about immigration after using AI. He addressed some of them but not others. I thought the most crucial thing was the English as an Additional Language (EAL) stat, which is fundamental to some of his claims. thetimes.com/article/ecc036…

Naturally the NIMBY-inclined populace is latching on to immigration as the cause of all woes, and they're not wrong.

Can’t say I agree. Nobody cares about a case. They want to hear that we’ve caught all criminal immigrants, replaced them with cheap doctors, cut healthcare spend, which means we can give everyone (including Dale’s dumb, uneducated, unemployed ass) $200k/year. Number don’t have to add up - just make up a patriotic slogan instead of math.

These kids are living in UK cities, attending schools which explicitly teach British values, speaking fluent English and often going on to UK unis. What isn't enough for you?

EAL doesn’t mean someone doesn’t speak english, as the piece points out.

Many were OK with mc while ours was dominant. In many places it's not. You can't say it isn't happening.

You're positing that integration is not possible "where culturally British people are a minority?", yet this is an opinion, not something that is measurable. People live in the wider culture even if their local culture skews towards something else.

In reality the Irish and British people are brothers. We share millions of bonds of family and friendship. Pitting us against each other is evil.
