@darrenpaffey @BBCNews With respect Darren, there isn’t the funding or capacity in the school system for this at the minute. Labour can’t not fund the NI increase, not fully fund a pay rise, and cut funding for things like AMSP then add more things into school responsibilities.

Many of you will know that Vanessa Abbess has been a brave and formidable campaigner for water safety education following the tragic drowning of her beloved son Joe. Ahead of my backbench debate in Parliament yesterday, we spoke to @BBCNews about what needs to change.

@Dark_Fantastic Loving this - if it’s even half the quality of Jagerholm then it is easily worth the pledge! Stretch goal idea: Collapsed trench wall as if a shell has caused the metal to give way and mud to fall into the trench. Would give options to block trench, and give a slope to get out.

Attended a pre-budget meeting with TUC executive and the Chancellor today. On the agenda: - Industrial Strategy, jobs & skills - Fixing our public services - Government’s plan to Make Work Pay - Support for the most vulnerable - Fair taxes However, also met Larry - he wasn't that friendly actually. A bit snooty. What years of strolling the corridors of power does to you I suppose.

@l88belle @1stclassmaths @mathsjem Lots of my team swapped to Microsoft Surface Pros (including me). Perfect as a tablet for note taking/teaching, but can attach a keyboard for easier planning. I’ve used it as my sole planner, planning tool, and teaching aid for several years and it’s fantastic.

#TeachersOfTwitter I would like a tablet/ipad and I would like some advice. I want to be able to use a pen with it for handwritten solutions. I would like to be able to use it to plan etc so full use of Microsoft Office. @1stclassmaths @mathsjem #mathsteaching

@hartmaths @mathsjem We have a combination of things: - Bespoke set of numeracy baseline assessments being made for Sept 24 (all) - Nurture groups in KS3 (select) - 1-to-1 testing and intervention using STAR/Freckle and Numeracy Ninja (select) - Tutor time activities involving TTRS (all)

Schools that offer numeracy intervention: what do you do/how do you do it? Trying to get a proper plan put in place for select KS3 students. Please share! @mathsjem

I don’t have many followers, but if any of you could sign this it would be appreciated. My AFCS payout was less than for a broken nose yet I have a life-long disability. I’m not the only one and it needs to change.

@frankkilopezzz If it was straight, it would have to be at least 2 bricks thick to give it enough strength. A 2 brick straight wall ends up being more bricks than a 1 brick curvy one.

@shadylady222 Who’d have thought that getting rid of years of experience and insight would have such a negative consequence? Now we just need the Govt. to notice and start focusing on retention of veteran teachers not just recruitment.

@WilliamJFeltham Interestingly, I have had a few Heads messaging me saying the same thing, that they went through a phase of employing new teachers and then realised that it affected results, behaviour etc and they needed experience in the leadership roles.

Thread: A question for school leaders and please feel free to DM. Does anyone still value knowledge and experience over cheaper ECTs? This is in no way a dig, it is just something that I, and others of my age are really desperate to know because it is becoming an issue.
