@William_PSmith @JoshKimbrellSC I send my child to a private school where the total tuition and fees come in under $7k/yr with much higher test scores while the state spends an avg of $20k per student in the public school system with a massive amount of that going to blowhards like yourself.

In states with universal school choice, teacher salaries have risen because private and public schools compete for great educators. Competition raises all boats. That’s why I’m fighting for school choice in SC — real freedom for families and better pay for teachers.

With money like this to burn, Clemson’s budget requests to the General Assembly should be ZERO in the upcoming budget. A $1.4 MILLION guaranteed payout to a departing president, including the option for a paid sabbatical with no duties, followed by a permanent six-figure salary north of $300k… all after providing just three weeks’ notice instead of the 12 months outlined in the contract. Families are being squeezed by inflation. Taxpayers are told to “do more with less.” Yet higher education leadership continues to operate in a different universe entirely. So the question is simple: Should the Board fire President Clements or allow this contract (and this level of excess) to continue at taxpayer expense?
