Let me explain IOMMU simply. the library is hardware. your journal is the game memory. IOMMU is a lock on the journal. Some other person is the hardware cheat. This does not lock other books. This does not break the shelves. This doesn’t destroy the building. This does stop the other person (cheat hardware) from reading *your journal* That’s it. That’s what IOMMU does. Riot stopped cheaters from reading the game memory. No it doesn’t harm your RAM, PC, or even the cheat Hardware. It just blocks it.

@WinterCharmVT @67erpMemequeen Cheating, really, isn't the problem. Game devs going insane and control freak about how people enjoy their games is. Once sold, it's none of their fucking business. Too many companies wanting to 'sell' you things, but retain ownership at the same time.

@Techrev_9999 @67erpMemequeen There's actually already a really clever detection method for this. I used to work on surgical robots, and we had ways to tell when a servo motor was driving inputs or the person was driving inputs manually. And we could tell just from the footage. No other data needed.

@The1stImmortal We have a right to enjoy our games that we are paying riot for, without them being filled with garbage skill-less cheaters. Riot is just making good on that promise.

No, it's the PC owner's library, their journal, they are the one directing someone else to read it. But the one who happens to own the copyright on some of the books in the library holds the key to the journal and won't let you have it, and it's "expected" that the library or journal may be damaged by them withholding the key when it is is meant to be read.

@barisyyild They're locking the game memory. Of the game they own. That's their own IP. Your cheat hardware needs to access *game memory* Now it cannot. Buying cheats a skill issue. Get better on your own. Stop cheating. Learn to aim like the rest of us. Rub those braincells together.

@WinterCharmVT IOMMU is a hardware feature; they don't have the right to lock a feature on hardware I've already purchased. Don't be surprised if they restrict hardware virtualization features tomorrow.

@Gigabear_X Cheat hardware needs memory access to alter the game. So yes, if it sets books on fire when it tries to torch the lock, system instability will occur. But is that the fault of the lock, or the dude with a blowtorch in a library?

@WinterCharmVT The hardware is not compatible with the setting which is why the user has it disabled. Even Riot admits it causes system instability if it keeps trying to access game memory. Which it will since it’s already on and doing that.

@Lina_Hoshino Unhinged, but awesome :D Also, I have to take my MBP back to apple today ; - ; M5 Max has a bad memory bank -- it throws ECC errors consistently and Kernel Panics when I'm above 60ºC and > 64GB of ram usage. Sad day. I love the laptop tho. So much power in a smol package.

@LarsfromMars8 @The_Only_Signal I’m not running Kimi 1T, I run a mix of various local models so my token throughput is quite good. I’m more interested in lots of parallel agents running at the 70b - 400b model range depending on what they do. And electricity costs are around $350/month at my current rates.

@WinterCharmVT @The_Only_Signal 15 tokens pr second (Kimi 1t on 4 ultras) is 40m tokens pr month, so you need about 160 macbooks to get your 800m tokens pr month. Also 7.2MWh of electricity is not free.

If you are rocking a 128GB unified memory system, or a 96GB RTX 6000, and running Qwen3.6-27B or 35B-A3B on them, you already know where this industry is headed. Smaller, more token heavy models, coupled with a harness like Hermes, on moderate VRAM high throughput hardware.

@LarsfromMars8 @The_Only_Signal For my work I go through about 700M tokens / month on *Opus*. At current API costs that’s like $10k/month (actual numbers btw, I run a small quant firm) A stack of Max Studios in an RDMA cluster is $50k, and I’d breakeven in 5 months. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@TorpiUntur @zogratwitch @duckmesillybaby Consider how much play styles vary by elo and between players in each game. And when players start to rank up their playstyle morphs along with it, so hybrid states exist between set play styles too. It’s incredibly hard to represent the entire player base in a dataset.

@TorpiUntur @zogratwitch @duckmesillybaby I’m well aware of their strengths and weaknesses. I’ve trained many many NN’s in my career. But they also really struggle without clean input data. The issue with anticheat is feeding them clean enough data to avoid false positives. It’s a very hairy data problem.

Pre Riot DMA detection = everyone installing Vanguard & the cheaters with their DMA cards were not complaining about Vanguard, but instead posting clips of their "insane gameplay" Post DMA detection = a bunch of crying cheaters that are Vanguard experts, but weirdly enough they all say they don't play Riot games 🤔

@WinterCharmVT Chemo isn’t always for cancer, I deliberately say tumour cuz my dad doesn’t have cancer!! Just wanted to throw that out there cuz a lot of people are mistaking me on that. I’m sorry to hear about your family member tho and hope their treatments go well and they recover well<3

One thing a lot of people don’t talk about when it comes to chemo is the fact that your family members will get sick too! People who are undergoing oral chemo therapy have to bleach the toilet after every use due to the radiation being able to get into your family members system. There’s been a couple times already where I’ve randomly thrown up due to the fact you can never 100% disinfect it. So if I ever randomly am sick or feeling unwell bare with me pls!

Let’s be entirely real here. The only people currently forcing themselves into a "clean reinstall of the OS" are panicked cheaters who flooded their systems with sketchy custom firmware, custom kernel drivers, and registry tweaks to try and hide their DMA cards from Vanguard. You didn't get hit by malware; you broke your own operating system trying to bypass game security, and now you’re suffering the consequences of your own terrible tech decisions. A normal, legitimate PC doesn't need an OS reinstall after this update. It just needs the user to enter their BIOS and turn on a standard virtualization feature built by Intel and AMD. Calling Vanguard "rootkit malware" because it caught you trying to inject unauthorized memory manipulation is peak comedy. You happily gave root-level access to the shady Discord vendor who sold you a cheat device, but the second a video game company uses standard Windows security to lock you out, you start crying about digital rights. No one manipulated your computer but you. Take the L, unplug the cheat card, and learn how to play the game natively.

@Existsindeath It’s not unstable. It ships on every Android and iOS smartphone. Standard. It’s used in many servers too. The only thing unstable, that’s causing the crashing is the cheat hardware that’s trying to mess with IOMMU.
