I’m amused by people in the replies saying ‘what’s the second word of the Shema, Mehdi?’ As if the Israel in the Bible and the Shema is the Israel of today. As if every Latino guy called Jesus today is the literal son of God from the Gospels. As Tucker Carlson of all people pointed out to Ted Cruz, in their infamous viral interview, it is absurd to suggest a secular modern nation-state called Israel today, run by a wanted war criminal Netanyahu, and carrying out a genocide, is what God is referring to in the Hebrew Bible. Also, you can’t have it both ways: either it’s antisemitic to conflate all Jews and Judaism with Israel or it isn’t. Make up your mind.

Sorry, you don’t get to tell Jews how “we can have it." Israel is the birthplace of Judaism and home to about half the world’s Jews. Jews can feel connected to it, support it, criticize it, love it, pray for it, visit it, and talk about it however they choose. They can put flags up and celebrate its independence. What the "conflation" does not mean is that every Jew must answer for whatever Israeli does or does not do, good or bad. And it certainly doesn’t make synagogues in the U.S. legitimate targets because its members there support Israel, however they choose to support it. And yes, the Israel of the Bible is literally on the same piece of land as Israel of today with the same people in an unbroken connection for 1000s of years. I know this fact infuriates you. But once again, you don't get to tell Jews what their documented history is.
