Merkle runs the sweepstakes, notifies winners, and handles fulfillment. No one could legally force Robinhood to pay $150,000 to an unknown number of people over a email mistake.

If I don’t hear from @RobinhoodApp by end of day today I’m filing formal complaints with the FTC, CFPB, and my state Division of Consumer Protection.
It’s been 6 days since Robinhood sent me the Grand Prize email and their own support team confirmed it. 4 days since @vladtenev said he was looking into this. Still haven’t heard a word from anyone at Robinhood. No emails. No DMs. Nothing.
I will also engage legal counsel to review my case. The deadline from their own terms has passed and nobody has reached out.

For example, major airlines often hire third party vendors to be ramp agents, gate agents etc. if their bags go missing it ultimately falls on the major airline, even though it’s contracted out. They take responsibility for that. Same applies here.

@WippaPow @IRENBull @RobinhoodApp @vladtenev I’m not saying he doesn’t have the right to be upset, of course he does. The mistake should never have happened, but this issue really has nothing to do with Robinhood. They aren’t the company that made the mistake.

@ValyrianCS @IRENBull @RobinhoodApp @vladtenev I understand that, at the same time, a multibillion dollar corporation can’t have their third party vendors making such egregious mistakes like this IMO. Not saying mistakes don’t happen, but they should make this right.

@WippaPow @IRENBull @RobinhoodApp @vladtenev Robinhood doesn’t send these emails directly they use a third party provider. It’s almost certainly not their fault, and legally, mistakes like this aren’t binding. They wouldn’t be required to pay anyone if a giveaway email was mistakenly sent in bulk.

almost everyone i know in their late 20s and early 30s who owns a home either had their parents help them significantly or flat out buy it for them.
and there’s nothing wrong with that but let’s stop pretending it’s normal

One too many times, actually. I will say though, the best learning strategy is actually doing it yourself. Lost a couple thousand on a couple of trades and boy did it hurt at the time. I’ve definitely made more than I’ve lost now playing it smart and cutting losers
