While Diego Frontado and Ricky Moneys get the bulk of the @Brewers DSL attention (they deserve plenty)… Leanders Matos has unquestionably been the top performer. While he’s a few inches shorter, the frame, approach and swing (as well as defensive profile) remind me a tonnn of Junior Caminero at the same age. While I wouldn’t expect him to be a perennial 50 HR a year threat, I do think Matos is showing the upside to become a 30 HR bat if things go well. Moneys has the louder EV’s currently and Frontado is taking the SS reps away from Matos, but I personally find myself liking Matos’s contact ability more than Moneys and his launch/pull ability more than Frontado. One of the youngest players in the class, I do expect Matos’s already decent EV data to continue to jump as he fills out his physical frame. Matos is easily my biggest DSL riser this year and is very much in the mix for the first position on my DSL top performers list if the production continues.
