@WithinSyr FLIR doesn't sell thermal imagers with a frame rate over 9Hz outside the US market. How, then, did the Syrian army acquire dual-use FLIR thermal imagers?

The thermal sight on Syria's upgraded T-55MVs is in fact a commercially available thermal imager from the US company FLIR Systems, now known as Teledyne FLIR.

The upgrade, however, was not Syrian! it was done by Ukrainian specialists!

Again, I did it for operational security reasons, not to expose a military secret, and also for legal reasons to protect myself.

@JacobL1994_ Correct, disables, not destroy. Hermes drone hit the radars with Mikholit missiles, leaving very little damage, Turkey had spares for that! Now, most of them are again active.

@WithinSyr That’s how one disables a SAM site. Destroy the radar and the rest of it is useless

One of the few pieces of info that I got post-Assad is that MANY of Syria's S-125 M2 systems survived, and Turkey is helping the new army maintain them, possibly using parts from S-125 it bought years ago from Ukraine! IDF only hit the radars!

On the other side, if you think that Israel does not understand what is going on, and who is supporting Hezbollah, you are also mistaken. It is just a matter of priorities, and now Iran is on the top of the Israeli list.

If you think Turkey will allow Israel to roll over Hezbollah, and pressure Syria even further, projecting its influence in Syria up to Turkey's border from Lebanon, than you are day dreaming.

During the Israeli campaign against Syria amid the civil war, Mossad operatives didn't just target Syrian air defenses with drones and ATGM like in Iran.
At lease in one case, the operatives planted a jammer right next to a Syrian air defense system, completely disabling it.

The main thing I tried avoiding talking about in the past was Syria air defense losses. Post 2020, there was rarely an Israeli attack that didn't result in the destruction of one or more system. In many cases, the systems were hit by Mossad operatives, using drones and ATGMs.

@Hassan_ll1 LOL, yes yes, true, and I know personally, that Israel hit most of the radars with drone strikes, using light munitions, resulting only in light damage 🤣vast majority of S-125 and S-125 M2 is fixable

Homs got new Jan. 2026 images. It seems that Syria was able to restore some SAM "survivors". The Pechora 2M site defence of the S-200 complex looks intact. Also some S-200 launchers still present. And what seems to be a (new/restored) corresponding Radar set

@Hassan_ll1 the 3 mig-29s are cooked as far as I know, other than that, I'm sure you know more than me! any aircraft can be upgraded to be an effective ground attack jet, the air to air part is however difficult. I will follow you to keep up haha

@WithinSyr I know that MiG-23s are currently being overhauled with full maintenance and Russian expert assistance, as well as the 3 remaining MiG-29s
Maybe turkey can upgrade them so they can carrying turkish weapons

I think it is about time to talk about the last system the Syrian Scientific Studies and Research Center developed for SAA tanks back in the day. I kept it a secret for years for security reasons. It gave Syrian tankers a major advantage, one that I didn't want to expose.
