App-specific execution with decoupled trust: optimize for your domain, verify separately @0x_Osprey's Paygo and @brianseong's Chainless paper have been 2 very interesting projects to come out in the last few weeks and they perfectly demonstrate what's possible when you break free from traditional paradigms of app development on blockchain. - A payments app doesn't need arbitrary computation, it needs fast transfers and balance updates. - A game doesn't need financial primitives, it needs deterministic physics and cheat prevention. - A trading engine doesn't need storage flexibility, it needs microsecond order matching. --- > Paygo: Verifiable Payments Done Right x.com/0x_Osprey/stat… Paygo shows what happens when you optimize ruthlessly for a single use case. It's a payments service that feels like Stripe but generates cryptographic proofs for ~$0.00003 per transaction. The genius is in the dual execution model: - Instant API responses on the hot path (milliseconds) - Background ZK proof generation on the verification path (async) Users get immediate payment confirmations while the system continuously proves correctness behind the scenes. No gas fees, no wallet signatures, no blockchain friction, just payments that happen to be verifiable. > Chainless Apps: The Full Framework (so glad it was renamed 😛) x.com/BrianSeong99/s… Chainless Apps takes this concept and builds a complete architectural framework around it. Their four-layer approach (Execution → Trust → Interoperability → Settlement) provides the blueprint for any application type, not just payments. The @Agglayer integration is particularly compelling—unified cross-chain liquidity with sub-second messaging enables real composability. The zkSpot example perfectly illustrates the vision: CEX-like trading performance with DEX-like self-custody, all powered by TEE execution + zkVM verification. > @0xStackr's Micro-Rollups This convergence has been incredibly validating to see. The custom state machine approach built into Micro-Rollups anticipated exactly this shift - apps shouldn't be constrained by general-purpose VMs when they can define their own optimized execution logic. Paygo's payment-specific state machine and Chainless Apps' domain-optimized execution layers are perfect examples of what becomes possible when you give developers the freedom to build bespoke state machines. No more forcing a trading engine through EVM constraints or making a payments app pay for unused opcodes. --- Why This Paradigm Shift Matters All three approaches prove the same fundamental point: blockchain applications don't need to feel like blockchain applications. We're moving beyond the false choice of "fast and centralized" vs "slow and decentralized." Traditional dApps force users to sign every transaction, pay visible gas fees, and wait for confirmations. Verifiable apps give users Web2 UX with Web3 guarantees—instant responses, gasless interactions, familiar interfaces, but with cryptographic verifiability when needed. This unlocks entirely new economic models. Pay-per-API-call billing, sub-cent micropayments, conditional escrows based on zkProofs—all become viable when transaction costs approach zero and UX matches user expectations. --- 🥧 Growing the pie by hiding the chain These approaches fundamentally change who can build what and for whom. Instead of creating "DeFi apps" or "NFT marketplaces" that only crypto natives understand, developers can now build normal apps that solve real-world problems - Mom doesn't need to know her gift money app uses zero-knowledge proofs; she just needs it to work instantly and cost nothing. - The restaurant owner doesn't care about state commitments; they just want verifiable reviews that can't be faked. When you can hide the crypto complexity while delivering the crypto benefits (transparency, verifiability, self-custody), you stop competing for the same 50 million crypto users and start building for the other 4.95 billion internet users who just want apps that work better than what they have today. --- Whether you call them verifiable applications, Chainless Apps, or Micro-Rollups, we're all building toward the same endgame: applications indistinguishable from Web2 services but with Web3's verifiability built in. That's how we bridge the adoption gap.

We've been building Verifiable Apps (vApps) & are excited to share our first one: Paygo Paygo is a stablecoin payment rail purpose built for secure and fixed cost transfers, delegations and escrows What makes Paygo different? How can you use it? Let me explain 🧵

EAS (Ethereum Attestation Service)
@icebreaker_xyz uses offchain attestations and then timestamps them with @WitnessCo_, such a powerful combo 👀 Offchain attestations give the data structure, require zero gas, the signatures remain verifiable by smart contracts, and their provenance is proven by Witness.
WITNESS@WitnessCo_

@icebreaker_xyz is building a decentralized professional network, where users own their professional identity. To achieve this they combine @eas_eth attestations & @WitnessCo_ timestamps, making credentials trustless, verifiable & gasless. witness.co/blog/icebreake…

One of the more novel use cases for trustless timestamping is being pioneered by the team at @OpacityNetwork Tamper-proof and universally verifiable logs without a single onchain transaction fee 🤌

@PalmerLuckey My hope is that we can build new, verifiable data streams that incentivize mainstream audiences to pay attention to them and filter other sources We're experimenting in this direction with cryptographic commitments, verifiable identities and reputational slashing at @WitnessCo_

Anon on @hackernews in response the Meta's Movie Gen. In the very near future, information that is not attested to by reputable individuals and blockchains (ie WITNESS Protocol) will be automatically filtered from your feeds.
