Congratulations to Professor Thokozani Majozi on his appointment as the President and Chairperson of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf)!
As the Executive Dean of the Wits Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, Prof. Majozi has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to advancing engineering and science in South Africa.
His new role at ASSAf is a testament to his dedication to academic excellence and societal advancement. ASSAf plays a pivotal role in promoting scientific thinking for the benefit of society, bringing together South Africa's most distinguished scholars to address critical national and global challenges through evidence-based solutions.
It is instrumental in providing policy advice, fostering excellence in scientific research, and promoting effective science engagement. Under Prof. Majozi's leadership, we anticipate a continued trajectory of growth and impact for ASSAf, as his vision and expertise will undoubtedly strengthen the academy's mission to mobilize the scientific community in addressing pressing issues such as health, education, energy, and environmental sustainability.
