Freeman does not want to account for public funds, and he started a witch hunt. Targeting and harassing innocent Zimbabweans. The crime is receiving public funds and refusing to be accountable for them. Practice what you preach! We want a full audit of how public funds donated via Freeman were accounted for. Are the allegations true? He must equally exonerate himself

Your claim that I "attempt to inextricably and exclusively link [universal sufferage] to a direct voting system for the head of government or state" is not only false but explicitly rebuffed in this video: youtube.com/watch?v=lKCTX8…. My argument is not that an indirect system of election is inherently undemocratic, but rather that the specific system created by #CAB3 is inherently undemocractic because it takes away the people's right to vote for the President and gives it to an UNDEMOCRATIC and UNACCOUNTABLE Parliament. We need to understand CAB3 as a unified scheme, whose clasues operate together to take away #OneManOneVote. It does so in several ways: 1. It increases the President's control over ELECTIONS through taking key electoral functions (voter registration and delimitation) away from ZEC (which, although its execution has not always been up to scratch at least has legal safeguards) and gives them to two bodies appointed by the President (Registrar General and new Delimitation Commission). Rather than addressing the problem of disputed elections and ZEC's lack of independence, it exacerbates the proplem. Using the tools of gerrymandering, a non-independent Delimitation Commission could entrench Minority Rule through the manner in which constituency boundaries are drawn. It already began under ZEC in 2023, but clearly ZEC did not go far enough for the liking of some and so they want to move delimitation to an even less independent body. For more: youtube.com/watch?v=u4S_Jy…. 2. CAB3 creates an Presidential electoral system that is institutionally vulnerable to capture by kleptocrats whereby someone who has ZERO mandate from the people (is not voted for by the people), who has NEVER been put to the people (is not required to be nominated at the time of going to the Parliamentary election), and may even have been REJECTED by the people (not required to be an MP), could become the President if they convince just 186 Members of Parliament to vote for them (a simple majority of a joint sitting of Parliament). In a political context where those with vast (unexplained) wealth flaunt their influence over State institutions (including brazenly defying the directives of State-institutions e.g. Wicknell "selling" vehicles for $100 in defiance of ZimPaper's directive to its employees), it is not far fetched to say that the Presidentcy may be for sale to the highest bidder. And CAB3 even builds in a monitoring and evaluation mechanism for the kleptocrat who wishes to buy state power: because the vote for the President is NOT required to be by secret ballot (like it is for the Speaker of Parliament) and so the kleptocrat who has bought 186 MPs can actually monitor whether they deliver on what they have been paid to do. Most worryingly of all, it opens the door even to foreign oligarchs or state's to buy a pre-paid President to deliver Zimbabwe's natural resources to them. 3. CAB3 makes Parliament undemocratic by packing the upper house of Parliament (the Senate) with Presidential appointees that have no mandate from the people. It does so in two ways: (a) Firstly, it gives the President unfettered power to appoint an additional 10 Senators who are completely unelected. These Senators have ZERO democratic mandate, because they derive their legitimacy from a President who in turn derives his or her legitimacy from the very Parliament they are being appointed to - this circular arragement is absurd! This clause is simply a backdoor to smuggle into Parliament people who were rejected by the people in their party (such as Ziyambi Ziyambi in 2023) or rejected by their constitutents (such as Mthuli Ncube in 2023). (b) Secondly, by stipping traditional leaders of the requirement that they must be non-partisan not only creates an untenable position for their role as quasi-judicial officers in communities, but it also strips them of the proptection that the requirement provided for them to represent their communities interests in the Senate (rather than the interests of their appointing authority, the President). Without that protection, the 18 Chiefs in the Senate essentially become political functionaries of the President. This means that the President would have undue influence over 28 out of 90 Senators, before even a single vote is cast. This means that the President's party only needs an additional 18 Senators (which they'd get with about 30% of the vote cast for National Assembly MPs) in order for his or her party to have a majority of the Senate (46 Senators). Combined with the President's control over the voters roll and delimitation (see point 1), this means that the President's party could retain control of the State with a mere 30% of the vote cast at an election. That is Minority Rule and a complete reversal of #OneManOneVote. It strikes at the very core of the ideals of the liberation struggle and it takes us back to a system of governance in which a minority hold all the power and wealth to the exclusion of the vast majority of citizens.

IGNORE THE MISCHIEF..,I have noted with deep concern the Daily News front-page story titled, “This engineered pact is hopeless,” which appears to allege that I have dismissed the efforts of others to advance the struggle for a better Zimbabwe in a manner they consider appropriate. Regrettably, the story is misleading, is a work of editorial fiction, and is intended to inflict injury. It is a fundamental principle of journalism that reporters should report the news, not manufacture it. When editorial standards are compromised in this way, public trust and our freedoms are put at risk. I remain fully committed to representing the interests of the citizens of Zimbabwe and to advancing the struggle for a better country. In due course, I will be rolling out a plan aimed at achieving that goal. Any attempts to distract us from this objective will not succeed. Thank you for your consideration of my take. A New Great Zimbabwe in our lifetime. The citizens shall govern!

I am relieved that my former Cabinet colleague Walter Mzembi has finally been released on bail. Although we have always been on opposing sides politically I always respected him as one of the more rational and decent members of Cabinet. I am sorry he has been subjected to this profound injustice. My hope is that this will be a lesson to all Zimbabweans that respect for the rule of law is one of the most important pillars of any democracy. Zanu PF during the time when Walter Mzembi was a Cabinet Minister did not respect the rule of law (in truth it never has done) but he and others did not speak out against that then. The sooner we all realise in #Zimbabwe that ALL patriots have an ongoing and never ending obligation to promote respect for the rule of law, no one is safe.

We have received alarming reports that ZANU PF-affiliated thugs have issued direct death threats against International Citizens Volunteer Organiser, Hon Chibaya, and Webster a citizen political volunteer. These thugs are bloodthirsty. They are desperate. And they are now openly threatening the lives of those who dare to organise for change. We condemn this in the strongest terms. Those behind these threats must be identified, arrested, and prosecuted. The law must protect every citizen. #NoTo2030

Growing up, whenever I crossed a line and my mother decided I deserved a savage beating, she would snap, "ngizakutshaya uzuthi baba usitsho enjeni." Literally: "I'll beat you until you look to the dog with a smile, lick his face, and call him 'father'." My mother has always been a nice person. I’m not. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

A SPECTACULAR FALL FROM GRACE… Advocate Thabani Mpofu, I have for SO LONG observed the many POSTS which you have made, often castigating and scandalizing the RULING PARTY. I have DELIBERATELY withheld myself from responding out of RESPECT for your once DISTINGUISHED standing as an Advocate. With the greatest respect Counsel, you are now taking it TOO FAR. To publicly allege that I control ZANU PF is totally ABSURD and only shows how deep the FRUSTRATIONS of being left in the COLD by Chamisa have totally BLURRED your PROFESSIONAL judgment. For the avoidance of any DOUBT, I do not control or WISH to control the RULING PARTY in any manner whatsoever !!! I am a businessman, and that’s where my interest and ambitions are. I am simply an UNAPOLOGETIC, very loyal and ordinary CARD-CARYING member of ZANU PF. I run my BUSINESSES, I support my FAMILY and I contribute, where I can, to the socio-economic DEVELOPMENT of this country. Contrary to your sensational, yet half-witted claims, ZANU PF is controlled under ONE CENTRE OF POWER, led by His Excellency, President E.D. Mnangagwa 🐊🐊🐊🦁. It is a party that has well-established and fully fledged STRUCTURES led by the PRESIDIUM, the POLITBURO and the CENTRAL COMMITTEE, among others, but all of which I do not sit or participate in. Haasi MAHUMBWE eku CCC kunonzi bereka mwana tiende 🤣🤣🤣 . What is particularly DISAPPOINTING Counsel, is that these assertions are now coming from someone who was RECOGNISED WORLD OVER and once regarded as one of the most ADMIRABLE and TALENTED Advocates in Zimbabwe. In the past, I PERSONALLY engaged you to represent me on several matters, and your BRILLIANCE and command of the law were SECOND TO NONE. It is therefore profoundly DISCONCERTING to see how your SPECTECULAR FALL from the WEAK ECHELONS of opposition politics has left you PROFESSIONALLY DESTITUTE and having to resort to smear campaigns after realizing that your useless opposition “LEADER” deserted and abandoned you when you least expected it and when you wanted him the MOST. It is also sad how the TOXICITY of opposition politics has left you being a PALE IMAGE of your former glory…My humbe advice to you is that please try focus on the “FULCRUM” and “PITH” of your legal practice and refrain from dragging my precious name or smearing my good standing as a MEMBER of the REVOLUTIONARY MASS PARTY, ZANU PF ✊🏽. HAMUNA ZERA ne politics Gweta. What you must simply accept is that UNLIKE the CCC which has changed its FORM and CHARACTER as many times as it has FAILED its own followers, ZANU PF is anchored on the IDEOLOGIES of the liberation struggle. It is guided by UNITY of purpose and an irreversible ASPIRATION to deliver an UPPER MIDDLE-INCOME ECONOMY under VISION 2030. You are better off attending to the very few briefs left still coming to your CHAMBERS, than making BASELESS and NONSENSICAL claims against me, which takes away everything from the LITTLE that is left of your integrity. BE GUIDED ACCORDINGLY !!!

I note that the @ChronicleZim, a paper based in the @CityofBulawayo, did not record in its report today about Top Exhibitors at #ZITF that the City of Bulawayo won the award for having the top local government stand. Why is this? It should not bite the hand which feeds it. Where is the sense of pride that a Bulawayo based newspaper should have in the City it relies on for its very existence?

ZANU PF is not a political party that lost its way. It is an evil system. A political, economic and social parasite. It cannot be negotiated with. Cannot be reformed. Cannot be waited out. It has attracted the greedy, the opportunistic, every manner of social misfit. Mediocrity is now the standard. And this system is now in some of us — in how we drive, how we treat each other, how we litter our streets. It must be uprooted root and branch. Here is what you do, starting today: You have until 17 May to send written opposition to CAB3 to the Clerk of Parliament. I will soon publish a template for this. Use it. Share it. Make your MP answer publicly for their vote. Seven specific actions. A programme, not slogans.
