GOOD NEWS: Sloth World has been shut down and will not open!
The 14 surviving sloths have been moved to the Central Florida Zoo for proper care.
Thank you to local officials, everyone who reached out to my office, and advocates who helped bring this to light. I’ll keep fighting for accountability and animal welfare.

I am appalled to hear about the 31 sloths who died under the “care” of the not yet opened Sloth World in Orlando. These sloths — naturally solitary animals — were put in the worst conditions possible. They were taken from their natural habitats to a packed warehouse that wasn’t properly heated and allowed for the spread of deadly viruses, leading to a stress-induced death. I honestly cannot understand the people that would open such a place and their greed. I also cannot even imagine why someone would be interested in spending money to see such a horrific exhibit. What kind of people did they think they would cater to?
