@KweenInYellow Isn’t half of the appeal for lib darling Gavin Newsom that he’s a dickhead capable of trading saucy takedowns with Trump?

@Stuart98_ @lefttwick Centrist dems aren’t opposed to MFA (for example) because they haven’t heard a friendly enough proposal from an interest group. Their position is that of the more powerful lobby. The justification and pontificating about people being more comfortable with blue cross is theatre.

@Stuart98_ @lefttwick @LucyKwiatek Strategic options are limited for folks without power. The DNC is the machine, it’s not exactly a chicken or the egg situation. They have nothing but their vote to negotiate with. No different than the mythical swing voter everyone’s happy to cater to.

@LouAnonAnon Promising to vote for a specific democrat 3 years in advance of an election*

@lefttwick Hey now, let’s be fair. They like to court the votes of people who become concerned with immigration 3 months before every election.

@kaminski_zach @AthletesInSpace @br4dy58 Hasan Piker’s followers don’t consider themselves democrats. Democrats are simply the party not as far away from their preferred policies as republicans. Democrats handle this type of voter less strategically.

@kaminski_zach @AthletesInSpace @br4dy58 Fuentes supporters don’t consider themselves republicans. They consider themselves independents who begrudgingly vote for republicans by default. I’m highlighting that republicans are strategically minded enough to take the votes rather than intentionally alienate them.

I’m a progressive politically on most issues but I I still haven’t seen any data that would suggest the reason Kamala Harris lost is that she wasn’t far left enough on policy She was in fact **perceived** as too far left & as being too preoccupied with social issues

@kaminski_zach @AthletesInSpace @br4dy58 Also “people who considered themselves republicans support Nick Fuentes” and “Nick Fuentes supporters vote for republicans” are different concepts.

@WivesGuy @AthletesInSpace @br4dy58 I’m not sure where you’re getting the idea that any actual Republicans support Fuentes?? The guy is an actual moron and I don’t know anyone who follows him. The left falls into the same trap the right does on generalizing

@kaminski_zach @AthletesInSpace @br4dy58 I am explicitly labeling him as a member of the fringe right, not generalizing him. If you believe zero republicans support him that’s not a hill I care to defend. Insert a different fringe conservative and the point stands.

@AthletesInSpace @br4dy58 It’s totally fair to say many if not most progressives have far too lofty goals, but the purity testing is directly related to how they are received by democrats. Fox News isn’t hosting panels to discredit its fringes and shouting them down.

@AthletesInSpace @br4dy58 You’re confirming that they don’t alienate their fringe supporters away from voting for them. They certainly don’t do so in pursuit of center left voters.

@AthletesInSpace @br4dy58 Republicans largely don’t nod along in agreement with dem attacks on Nick Fuentes fans. They defend him as a concerned American being mischaracterized by progressives and move on because it doesn’t serve them to make their opponents arguments for them.

@AthletesInSpace @br4dy58 It’s worth considering that republicans can win in spite of their fringes because their base accepts them rather than spending time in fighting about who’s responsible for how their opposition party generalizes them.

@nickjudin @gayest_tone I think it’s fair to attribute some of that change to being horrified with what Israel is doing. Would still say that as a country Iran is as susceptible to being vilified in US eyes as any other nation of brown people whether Israel is involved or not.

@WivesGuy @gayest_tone I really think it's just-so thinking to assert that the entire change in American perspective towards Israel is some kind of abstract complaint about foreign aid.

@br4dy58 @AthletesInSpace If such a small irrelevant group holds such power might as well not worry about it. You aren’t going to twitter scold away the existence of tiny opposition to the party line.

@br4dy58 @AthletesInSpace Explicit in my post is that this is one of the vacillating opinions, yes. The level of vocality of a tiny irrelevant voting block logically is not responsible for the image of democrats or outcome of elections regardless of one’s agreement with it.
