Just opened Discord and now some messages are locked behind ID verification?? 😭 I can see some messages but others just say “message hidden”… Is this a new update or am I bugging??

Discord is adding a new system that lets you lock server access behind a verification role. In addition to the standard verification levels (email, being a member for 10 minutes, or phone number), you can now require that members also need to have a specific role for access.

Discord is adding the ability to download Voice Messages on the desktop app via the context menu.

BTW - How this happened: I was setting up an interview with an Unreal Programmer. He sent me his portfolio, we chatted about gamedev etc. His account was hacked in the middle of that conversation and he sent me a game to check out that "his friend was working on" - I should have known, but it felt natural in the conversation about games he was working on/had a hand in. The guy bypassed my 2FA, requested a "Verification Key" to view my backup codes on Discord. Discord just sent it to him without any sort of security screening, questions or anything. Just gave him the keys. This email was sent to him, he got my backup codes, accessed my account, changed password and added his own 2FA - locking me out of the account.

Discord is working on a new Official Messages system for Verified Servers. Official Messages allows you to add a new permission to roles, which grants messages sent by people with those roles a new colorful highlight in chat.

@RealCleora @Volitz_ 5CA? That was a partner used on zendesk to handle age ban related appeals only. The age verification system currently rolled out to the UK/Aus/Brazil ad planned to be rolled out to further countries uses K-ID and has not had a breach. Please get your facts straight.

They used a 3rd party site that previously had a data leak, although discord and that site claimed they don’t collect or keep data And after a very brief release in some countries, they removed it and it was later said they where hacked again and data was leaked; again after they said data wouldn’t be stored or kept Feel free to google it, I’m not out here wasting my time by lying about small things

I would have had Opal but I canceled my nitro after the facial recognition announcement and when they tried to roll it out Then lied and hid the fact they actually do save data and that the data has been leaked before, because right after they unrolled it out; those who had it had their data leaked by hackers, again
