@SandyofCthulhu If they had placed all the money in a big pile and set it on fire it would have been more interesting, I’d probably have kept watching the episodes .
Hey they’re setting another pile of money on fire this week! This time it’s $50 bills! Can wait for the finale when it’s $1’s

The Rings of Power pulled off an amazing feat. Not only did they turn the most regal elf into a nagging harridan, but they destroyed the orcs as a fearsome force for evil by giving them human, instead of orcish, motivation.
They took the span of experience offered by Tolkien's world and squeezed it from both ends until it collapsed like an accordion, trying to squish everyone into a gray moral mush.
Well done Amazon.

@CalcCon @JundeMorsenWu @pfau The tuition for foreign students in Graduate STEM depends on the program, but lab facility’s, materials, research programs all come out of research funding. And there are only so many slots available.
Non STEM, and non Tier 1 programs, foreign students are a cash cow.
English

Mostly correct, incentives matter
But in a STEM PhD program, the US taxpayer or some company pays
And where does that money go?
Overhead to university administratora who discriminate against the best American students and push policies like math equity on our kids
Even with the Supreme Court decision, they are still discriminating against our kids in secret
And of course they charge ridiculous tuition plunging American kids into a modern indentured servitude with useless degrees in a market that’s flooded with foreign talent

I’m an AI PhD at Oxford wanted to move to the US for years, but it never worked out. Maybe I can share why.
To me, it feels like the US is making it harder and harder for Chinese talent to come or stay.
First, Trump signed PP10043, which meant I couldn’t go to the US for any graduate school. That’s why I had to turn down my Stanford offer and come to Oxford.
Later, I qualified for an EB-1A (the extraordinary ability green card). But because I was born in China, I’m stuck in a country-specific backlog that could take another 4–5 years.
Meanwhile, on the other side, I’m getting 3–4 emails from China almost every week. They offer high salaries, free housing, generous research funding, and even offered an astonishing amount of money just for me to come back and have a conversation.
I’ve always loved the American spirit. I truly believe my abilities could have a bigger impact there. But honestly, the whole process has been incredibly frustrating.
All of this makes me wonder whether I should just give up.
Why am I spending so much energy trying to go to a country that doesn’t seem to want me, when another country is doing everything it can to bring me back?

kimi’s founder & ceo got his phd at cmu. why didn’t he stay in america?!
English

@iowahawkblog Send lawyers, guns, and money to get me out of this
English

@CalcCon @JundeMorsenWu @pfau Its incentives. America has been able to attract top talent from across the world. America has also been able to attract foreign money.
Universities do a little from column A to get generational minds, and a little from column B because foreign students pay full rate.
English

Let me spell it out for you
You’re being here takes a spot away from an American student
Your professor , being allowed to hire you, just incentivizes him / her from ensuring the American students at his university are doing well
His/her university doesn’t invest in the local high school and elementary school programs that are failing because they can draw up upon your talent and your resources
This is not a criticism of you, nor is it any form of bigotry
The fact we want you to do well
It is simply a realization that incentives matter and that the country has a systemic problem with the education system, unless you were here to help fix that why would we want you?
English

@J0hnADouglas If you have demonic magic, why would you waste the effort for unreliable mechanisms? What logistic problems are being solved with a demon train?

@72ps @Hot_Pepper76 Normally one would have to go to a bowling alley to find a woman of your caliber.

@Hot_Pepper76 She starred with Dudley Moore in a movie and became quite well known because of that.

@Rainmaker1973 How long can it support combat missions? It obviously needs jet fuel.

So I’ve always thought of Victor as the ‘wise old man’ but here’s the thing I turned 59 last week and Barry was 56 while filming this so who’s the old man now 🤣

Okay, so, here's a question: of all the actresses, models, etc., you're aware of in the past 100 years, who would you cast as Helen of Troy? If you had the ability to literally cast anyone? This is supposed to be a woman of extraordinary poise, presence, and beauty, capable of moving nations to war. 🤔
English

@johnkoenigcmdr I had the big one too. Someone who has one should make 3D scans of the parts. It would be cool to 3D print a fleet. Maybe even a Mk IX Hawk.

@TruthDespiteMSM @MacFarlaneNews If we can’t sue him as President, seems also fair that he cannot initiate lawsuits in his personal capacity while president.
English

Bizarre ruling that will never survive appellate scrutiny. Basically the court determined that POTUS is effectively prohibited from suing the federal government during his tenure. It raises serious due process and procedural questions. Is the statute of limitations tolled? Does this court contemplate the establishment of some sort of unbiased international court solely for cases where POTUS is the plaintiff?

@TheCinesthetic I would have liked to have seen a Highlander sequel.

@MadMonkofPunk @TheCinesthetic A Reno Williams sequel would have also been nice.
